Holiday in Tokyo

I know this is a bit off topic, but I've been thinking of taking a holiday to Tokyo with my girl for some time now. Obviously I'd be wanting to play some VF4 while I'm over there, but I'm more interested in learning some general info on staying in Tokyo. Given the number of folk on here who've been to Tokyo, I though it would be a good place to post some queries:

1. How expensive is Tokyo in general (eating out, drinking, etc)?

2. How much will a decent yet cheap hotel set us back per night?

3. Is the night life good in Tokyo, ie clubs and pubs?

4.. Are there any nice areas away from Tokyo we could chill for a few days, ie hill walking or boating?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

This will likely get moved to General, but anyways.

1: Tokyo is very expensive. I've seen Londoners cringe at prices before.

2: Don't count on less than $100 USD per night for a decent hotel. There are cheaper places to stay, but I've never used any of them, so can't say.

3: nightlife is good, if you know where you're going. It can be a crap shoot sometimes.

4: there are more thana few nice places within 2 hour train ride from Tokyo. If you're here in the winter, then go to a hot springs. Summer time - one of the islands would probably be your thing.

Well, she actually loves videogames (lucky for me!), so I thought a few trips to some arcades would be possible. As for VF4, I was planning to spare her the boredom - she dosen't like fighting games - and send her off clothes shopping for a few hours /versus/images/icons/smile.gif You never know, it could almost work....
