No pictures or details yet, just the announcement.

Hori of Japan has announced via Famitsu Magazine that they will be releasing their line of Hori Real Arcade Pro™ arcade sticks for the Xbox 360 on July 10th of this year.

Dubbed the Hori Real Arcade Pro™ EX.

    More details as it comes!

Finally! A proper stick for the 360, hopefully one that has decent parts and is mod friendly like the past RAP models.

    Thanks for the news, MarkMan.

I love how they've done the stupid thing of putting the LT and RT buttons right next to the stick.

Which means re-configuring your controller to them or maybe even just changing the wiring on the buttons (assuming they'll have QDs as standard for HRAPS).

No one would play VF with the A, X, Y layout as it is and the same goes for 6 button fighters too!! The X, Y, A, B, LB, RB need shifting over and the RT and LT need to be right on the other side!!

    lmao

Even the Hori EX2 stick got that right!

That's the first thing I noticed, how weird the button layout is.

I only hope this one is a better build than the EX2.

If it's a HRAP it'll be 100 times better than the Hori EX2 by default. More reliable, easier to fix/mod, sturdier and less prone to random problems. Plus the stick should be a Sanwa JLF straight out of the box, if you want Sanwa OB-SF-30 buttons in there, as opposed to stock Hori ones, it's a doddle to change them over.

But the button layout is just dumb, the way the 6 buttons closest to the stick are layed out, that's the standard in Jap arcade cabs, doesn't make any sense to have the 4 main buttons shifted over so that by default you have some weird slant in the layout.

But QDs are standard in HRAPS, which means it'd take all of 1 minute to just clip off the QDs from the buttons and re-configure them so X, Y, A and B are where they should be.

I like the layout. I recently found that the normal stick player seems to use their thumb on the guard button, using RT,LT, and X if you were using the controller pictured. However I use my 3 fingers, starting with my index. So the RT-A-B layout above is ideal for me.

Holy crap, that thing is a monster! Atleast now people can really play VF without heavy modding.

    This is great news.

Button layout doesn't really matter in terms of mapping, cause you almost always have to change the configuration when playing with others anyway lol :\

Yeah I plan on switching it up and using RT, LB, and the Back button. See how that goes.

Looks pretty nice, my Hori EX2 has seen better days so ill probably hold off and get one of these. The headset input is in a strange possition tho looks like the cable will come down by the stick and possibly get in the way.

They probably put the headset input there because that way they only need to make a new top plate and re-use the existing hrap bases. And yeah, it does look like it will get in the way unless you clip it off to the side.

Isn't it cheaper to just order an Arcade-In-A-Box one that also guarantees you that top-notch parts have been used for assembling it?

This is great news. About button layout, yeah it sucks although it sucked for Ex2 as well.

Leanord McCoy is the only one to chime in.

What do you guys think, this thing fo 115+ dollars, or just order a custom made stick. Which is going to be better.

This is certainly a good question which I'm also still pondering about even after I have asked several VF players, who are much more familiar with the HORI product-line than me.

My current state of knowledge is that the HRAP for Xbox 360 will still feature these low-quality HORI-made buttons (that refused to work properly after two weeks for my Hori EX2 Stick). This is the major hindrance that made me not cheer up from the very start, when HORI announced their HRAP port to the 360.

As well, the plug for the mic is misplaced in my opinion. I would bet that the cord will get in the way when playing. For modding purposes this edition is, of course, way better than the normal EX whose space inside is rather limited and which doesn't support a large spot to rest your hands on when playing.

All in all, this makes me very skeptical. Word has it that the HRAP EX will come out July 10.

Arcade-in-a-box is GIANT and HEAVY. The emPHAsis I give those words should not be overlooked. You can use it on your lap if you want and it's probably best suited for a table.

Arcade-in-a-box can be ordered with the parts you want (HAPP, Sanwa, etc.). Hori comes one way.

Hori RAP is less giant and not really heavy at all. It's lighter than the smaller VSHG.

Hori has the headset plug in what looks to be a not so good place. Arcade-in-a-box probably has few limits on where headset plug can go.

Both designs make stick and button replacement easier than the Hori EX2.

Choose what you want based on what's important to you.

Hori does not distribute Real Arcade Pros to the West.
