1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

    Hi all!
I'm quite new to VF, but very keen to it. So I thougth, why all this faqs aren't collected in a book?
Does anyone with the possibility know how to do this, and know if is a good idea?

    u can get the book,

    its called prima's official /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
as for the faqs, they are meant to be free, (*and editable*), since a lot of people can contribute to the knowledge online. book publishing costs money and yada yada...but hey, not a bad idea (though a rather silly one) still not a bad idea /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bear in mind also, Asami, that books are nice if you want to, say, bone up on frame data and what have you while away from the Internet, but the problem with books is that unlike the Internet, they are a pain in the ass to update with changing data.

People's understanding of games that are played seriously in competition is constantly changing, particularly in terms of strategy. The highest-damage combos and the safest series don't tend to change once discovered and documented, but people are constantly finding new ways to exploit characters' moves and capabilities. It is in this area ESPECIALLY that you don't want to be caught with an outdated book when the Internet version is readily updated to reflect such new strategic findings.

What you're saying is totally true, for an harcore gamer that seek always and constantly the best from his character.
But for a casual or normal player, I think that a book should be useful.
I saw that book on amazon, and is 96 pages more or less.
The Akira FAQ is more than 100 of A4 papers.
This means that the book available is not complete at all. A new, complete, book could be more useful than print all the faqs of my interest.

I thought of a manual of 1000 and more pages, like a real manual for a complex thing is.

ps. sorry for my poor english!

Somewhat along this idea...I got extra geeky and put together a binder of edited VF4E FAQs printed out from the internet. It's organized by characters and is actually pretty helpful.

HAHAH me too! I did it for both TTT and VF! that way I can just write in notes on my printed faqs when I see if. Its also a lot easier to refer to between matches.

I have to hide that folder whenever my girlfriend comes over though...hehe...dont wanna get dumped for being too geeky. hehe
