Are you referring to the offensive move? If so, check game manual or VFwiki on the left..

Doc, you're seeing two things I think. First of all tapping up or down to side step will not always guarantee a successful evade. When a linear attack is expected and someone side steps then you will see a successful evade. Manjimaru said the other thing you probably saw which was the offensive move.

i think he might be referring to box stepping.
right after you evade, you can cancel that evade by performing backdash, fwd dash, crouch dash, crouchdash back and just keep repeating
    ex:
    evade > crouchdash > evade > etc

Basically he needs to elaborate on his question because we don't know exactly what he's asking and therefore don't know exactly how to answer...

treat EVADE as a counter against linear attacks and you will see the light my friend...

ok, elaborate? I will be fighting someone, and while im throwing a series of attacks, (with lei fei) my opponent will move up real fast, where it looks like im facing the wrong way. then he beats my a** bc im turned around the wrong way. ive tried tapping up or down, but for some reason i dont do it right or im not timing it right. if anyone is online, my user is iceeeee. and could really use some help. i have a mic so u could talk me threw it. thx guys

Your opponent used offensive move (tap /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif -> neutral+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or tap /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif -> neutral+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) . Its possible to get completely behind you with just one OM if you attack into it with right timing. Usually OM doesnt go completely around you with just one application though. Offensive move can be interrupted by attacking in the right time (usually with slightly delayed attack).

Unfortunately OM mechanics are bit hazy so what happens with OM may often feel a bit random.

You can not evade if your back is turned. You have to press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to turn around first.

He said that his opponent evaded quickly all the way behind him, which sounds to me with 99% propability of a OM executed into his attack. You can end up behind opponent with just one OM if you time it right. Trick is however that the opponent is moving forward with an attack at the same time you OM.

I agree that his opponent OM'd. I was talking about what happens next.
