How Good Is VF4

My Brother whu i own the ps2 with really wants VF4 but it is my turn to choose the game so how good is Vf4 really . This is also my bros user name i am using so send him mocking messages

 

Depends on what you want in your fighting game.

Most here would say that VF4 is awesome. It's not the best place to really ask that question. But there are a number of players here who find it worth it to spend a lot of time trying to understand various aspects of a single game called VF4. Myself included in that list of people. In that regards, it's one of the most rewarding experiences for me out of a videogame and playing with good competition is a competitive experience that is second to none for me.

If you like a fighting game that provides lots of mindgames, tactics, variety in styles, and lots of up-close action while still having room for mid-ranged battles.. You'll probably like VF--given you take a bit of time to try to understand the game.

There are other pluses, but ultimately you have to be the judge of that.

It's probably the best fighting game I've played so far and a lot of game sites will agree. If you want mindless, button mashing, 50 hit combos then go with tekken, but Virtua Fighter 4 has the deepest most inspired gameplay ever for a fighting game and the single best mode in fighting game history, Kumite.

 

Its okay, I much prefer doa3 and tekken4. VF4 is like an upgrade of VF2 which is a step backwards where as VF3 was innovative and great. I just expected so much more from Sega on this one!

 

kinda strange for people liking tekken 4 over vf4. tekken 4 is such a broken game comparing to VF (i had studied both game extensively. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif ) in another words, if you want to try the best 3D game thus far, give VF 4 a shot!!

Me too. The gameplay is amazing â€â€way better than T4 IMO but I agree that for some reason it feels like a step back when compared to VF3. I was expecting A LOT more from this release in terms of graphics quality and innovation.

 

Its a step backwards because any innovative freatures included into vf3, such as dodge button and layered fighting arenas were removed, making the game feel like a graphically more impressive VF2 then a step forward. The character balance is crap also, everyone seems to use Akira, Kage or Jackey, check the movies on the daoih site, see anybody ever use shun?

Character balance crap? Nu-uh. I use Lau, mostly, and sometimes Shun. My friends use Pai, Shun, Vanessa, Jacky and Wolf. I see no problems here. I never liked the dodge button- evading and reversals are just fine- and multi-layered scenery got anoying from time to time, especially against CPU players once the novelty wore off. Dunno much about Evolution, only checked out a few sites, so can't argue about it /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

I'm with Kiteless -- if the character balance was so good, we'd see more Aoi's, Shuns, and Lions. I think everyone would forget Lion if Chibita didn't use him. I've only seen about 6-7 that are relatively high (6-dan to 10-dan) in person (mine is 6-dan), and God only knows how many jacky & Lau's above Ha-oh.

There's just WAAY too many people that aren't going to play a charcter if they can't just come out and smoke people with them. That's why Jacky & Lau are all over Daioh and every game center in Japan. If you're getting you're ass-kicked, you've got the ultimate fall back -- just wait, and unleash a long combo w/ lots of mids -- the other players in question don't have that.

Case in point -- go download the whole Zepp Tokyo tournament -- tell me how many Lei Fei's you see there.

Hmm, reason given that only 2 character are added to a sequel is so they can balance characters. Smells like bs to me, more a case we're too lazy to add anymore then 2. Anyone ever use Vanessa? I mean, come on, she totally sucks! Lei Fei was pretty good but Vanessa was a total mess.

 

Personally I think this one is the best in the serise. I never really got into the dodge button implemented in VF3 although your right the multi-layered envirenments will be missed. I also believe that the console version of VF4 has got to be one of the deepest brawlers around. The one player Kumete mode is an exellent addiction. Also the AI is brillant, (for the most part.)

I just checked the booklet that came with the DVD...u're right abt the zepp one /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

But I can definitely comment on all the other tournaments that I have seen on tape.

Vanessa is good, she just takes some getting used to, especially since her moves are stance specific. Find someone that's good with yer -- they can destroy people.

As for the tourney's -- I've been to more than a few, and Jack Y& Lau always dominate... not be leaps and bounds, but I went to one at Hightech Land. There was one Lion, no Shun, no Aoi, and only two Pai's. Horrible attendance, IMHO. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah I do know what I am talking about and I restate that Vanessa is a rubbish character. I have never seen a Vanessa player dominate at all, and these are good players who know how to use her.
