How is Gohs' basic kick in VF5 compared to VF4.

    In Vf4 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif stoped damn near everything. I strung together alot of moves off of that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

    As you can see I'm pretty highly invested in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif . at mid range /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif & /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif are staples for me. Maybe you can tell, or not but I play Goh defensively(from a striking standpoint). Most everything I do is to put myself in position for a grab ,hitgrab while landing defensive strikes, & reading the prababilities for the reversal oppertunity.
    (Random side note) 2 things I don't care for is... 1.Seeing vids of people trying to play goh like akira. IMO goh is intended to be the polor oppisite of the same design style as akira.(I know I should define that a bit but I'll go on faith that you know what I mean.)
    2.The fact that Sega seemed to focus on his stikeing game in VF5 when there are obvious things they could do to up his intended design. I simply hate the fact that Gohs' /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif knocks down on regular hit or so I've heard anyway. Akira already has that same move with the same property why the hell does Goh need it? whats wrong with knocked down on counter hit with garenteed low throw attempt? If it needs to be beefed up how bout an auto grab on counter(slam to ground *for more dmg* similar to asuka in tekken 5) then garenteed low throw attempt.

    With that said his intended design is probably why he's not used by many people so, uh ... how's that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

    You have a problem with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif knocking down on normal hit?
    Its now a -14 frame punisher and he can now get good damage of it. So you want a move that knocks down and then you want a 50/50 guess afterwards.. Whereas in VF5 it knocks down and he gets a guranteed(easy) combo.
    You can take back the evo properties if you like my friend...

    As for his normal kick they haven't changed a thing about it. Still as good as always.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif feels like it has better range (probably wrong though). Other than that, it is still a great tool to use and abuse.

    Since you haven't played VF5 I can tell you that he is a million times more fun to play then in Evo. He's also stronger. K has landed a bit in the background for me when playing him as opposed to his new tools. Since 3k MC gives real combos now (juiced up damage), 3p gives +7 on MC! (allowing you nitaku between his knee that does helladamage and a throw), 6pp and 4pk I simply don't use K as much anymore. With a little range in between he has 4k / 66k etc now also.

    Oh yeah, 46p KD normalhit is a godsend (446p etc) ^____^

    To put it bluntly, you can't use Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif in the same way anymore.

    The new animation looks like it should have more range but it actually has less, I whiff it way more often than I used to anyhow (you have to admit it had an extremely generous hitbox in Evo, the thing would hit while the opponent was obviously beyond toe-reach). It looks faster to me but is just as fast as it always was. On block it no longer pushes the opponent back as far as it did, so they can put pressure on you easier afterward. Triple /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif doesn't work as a wallcombo any more either, but you've got /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif for that now, which works wonders with walls at a greater range than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif used to do.

    It used to be a big part of my game as well. Nowadays you've got to watch out at the distance that was always reserved for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, I usually find I dash or backdash at that range.

    ps. When /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif gets blocked or whiffs /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif are still good bets depending on your opponent. I've actually gambled correctly with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif as well at times against a knee loving Jeffry player, but not a lot of people would risk that one I'd think. (Oh yeah, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif no longer causes crumple on counter hit but does it on sabaki making it a bit more specialised move.)

    I've been playing VF since Vf1 arcade/32X<--broken now /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif still got game though /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif While I do have a genuine passion for VF I approch it *critique wise/somtimes when playing* from my main passion which is game design/programing. While I only get to program on the unreal engine I.E. First person shooters. I have design philosophies specificly for different types of games & others that over arch every game I touch(put thought to).
    With that said I think from the standpoint of who is this character and how does he/she fit into this setting and from there how is that relayed in the play mechanics/moveset by which you use him/her.

    1.Who is this character? -
    Goh,judo guy,laid back,hot head,general disdain for foe.

    2.How does he fit into this setting? -
    Flexing/filtering his hot head through his laid back Judo senseabilities of grapling&strikeing.

    3.How is that relayed in the play mechanics/moveset by which he's used? - (The topic of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif KD on hit)
    Moveset that showcases his judo background with animations for said moveset that portrays his hot head and disdain of his foe.

    Now how does that equal to down with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif = KD on hit? For me it goes against #2 above. Goh certainly is vicious enough to put his palm through your face and drop you to the floor. With that said I don't see that viciousness filtering through judo and his general laid back personality in that fashion. I see Goh Strikeing hard to setup an oppertunity to vent that viciousness through the grappleing aspect of judo. Goh might hate yo face but he's not going to chase you up the block if you start running...& he's not going to put his hand through someones'face like akira would. He's just not aggresive *in that sense*


    If /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif needed to be beefed up given above critiria I'd...

    1.(normal hit)Add a back stumble to the foe either...
    a.Equal to stumble after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif against crouch.
    b.Giving a garenteed standing throw attempt.
    c.Standing throw attempt but if struggled out before attempt,
    option of goh catching a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    2.(counter hit)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif(no dir) at flash, either...
    a.specific hit throw animation to the ground. garenteed Gthrow
    attempt afterward.
    b.Goes into gohs clinch/grapple stance.

    *2.option*(counter hit) crumple animation enableing your choice of trip/lowT/or groundT as foe crumples.


    In my opinion one of thoughs movesets would better rep who goh is and how he fits into VF instead of running the danger of makeing him to similar to another character.

    Good call vortigar. Though as you say, situational, they definatly play there part after a blocked /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif


    It sounds like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a bit in the air though as far as concencous. I will say though I never noticed it really pushing on /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif in VF4:evo, now push after counter is a different story. Is that still there? I used it to catch dash-ins with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif ,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or other tom foolery I rarely get to use.
