How is the online community for this game?

Hey guys I'm new to the forums. I've been considering getting this game but I'm just not sure. Thing is before I've been told its bad, but maybe this is a better place to ask. So how is the online community? the competition? how is the lag? i was told it mostly has japan users on, is this true?


And another question actually... is there some VF5: R? If so what's that all about? (and should I wait to pick that up instead?)

 

Whoever told you this game is bad was lying! Online community is pretty good, especially when you play people from here but it's xbox live so there are a few retards around.

There are lot of Japanese players but there's also a lot uf US and EU players, lag shouldn't be that much of an issue when playing people from the same country/state.

VF5: R is an updated version of 5, it's only in Japanese arcades at the moment and no plans for a console version have been announced.

 

Yeah I usually don't have lag issues with any one in the US for the most part. EU some times. Japan... most times I do than none actually. I think there was like one game that I didn't have issues with playing Japan users. So that is why I'm concerned that it mostly Japan users if it really is.

But yeah now knowing about VF5 R.... I mean sure there is no plans announced for it to come to consoles, but I think you guys are probably expecting it to eventually aren't ya?

 

Well there's been a few versions of VF that never hit the consoles, seems like most people think this will happen with R too... or they're just not expecting anything.

 

Fixed. Where's the optimism?

R is basically 5 with two new characters (Jean and Taka), new/altered moves for characters, stage changes (size/shape/music) and plenty more. It looks better than 5 as well.

 

Jean is the only new character in Virtua Fighter 5 R. Taka-Arashi's first appearance was way back in Virtua Fighter 3. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif

Just go buy it. You'll love it. As far as online community, i have yet to find one that compares to this website right here.

 

This is the best online community for a fighting game. There are many good peeps here. Spend time browsing the posts and you'll see that there are people from all corners of the world on this site. People of all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, genders /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
and skillz setz. Many of the people in this community are avid fans of the fighting genre in general, and play Tekken, DOA, Street Fighter, Smash Bros, Soul Calibur,Mortal Kombat, King of Fighters, Fight Night, etc.

This online community offers the most game analysis and support found anyware on the Internet for any kind of game (regardless of genre). There is no question about VF that you could have that one or more of the VFDC members wouldn't be able to answer for you.

Our Wiki entry is top notch! Our tournaments are world class.
Our game is recognized in the Smithsonian! IMHO VF is argueably at the top of the fighting game food chain.

We also have world class moderators /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/tired.gif who keep thingz from getting out of hand when the members have consumed to many drugs, women (men), alchohol, or if the moon is full /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
