Played VF1 in the arcades, dominating with Jeff..... waited outside EB to get the early shipment of Saturns with VF. Got VF Remix when it came out, nice graphics at the time. Played a little VF2 in the arcades.... When VF2 and Sega Rally came out, I thought games and graphics couldn't get much better, those games were just such a huge jump ahead of anything else. Then I bought VF Kids.... waste of money kinda..... Fighter's Megamix got my VF3 moves down, and when it came to Mindboggle in Charlotte I went undefeated (not saying much, it's Charlotte......) Got the shoddy DC VF3, and loving 4 on PS2.

(I think this post is a bit pointless but anyway: )

I first started playing VF at approximately the halfway point between VF1 and VF2 shortly after I started playing the game, my local arcade had removed the game. At the time, I didn't have a car so it was not always easy to travel to play so my play was sporadic.

Shortly after, VF2 came out and the same arcade that got rid of VF1 had it immediately. I fell in love. This is when I was really able to continue my learning of the game. I played this almost every day (every chance I got for that matter.). What helped this a lot was the fact that the guy running the arcade at the time was really into VF also. We became friendly and eventually, I was usually always getting free play. Some of us would stick around (or not even arrive) after hours ust to play VF. Hell, my girlfriend at the time even got into the game and became fairly well versed.

To make a long story short, I have been playing ever since.

    1. ... his post wasn't pointless, he just put in a disclaimer because he actually worries about whether the stuff he says is boring, pointless drivel or something worth reading.
In this case, it was a pretty nicely written response that has everything to do with your "how long have you been playing..." poll, so how can you ask "why did you post?"

    2. You're pretty high up there in pointless posts lately. A lot of the stuff you're asking is something that's been talked about 100 times before, or else is just plain dull... like the recent announcement that you like the CG's between battles in VF3. I like cats and minigolf and Kage's evo music and the underwater rocks on jeffry's VF3 stage, but I don't post every time one of these facts crosses my mind.

If you're going to chime in with one liners all the time, at least make them funny? Just an idea.

Maybe you missed the point of the previous post.

I remember when I first saw VF. It was around the same time as the Tekken release, so I was a little late. I thought it was boring at first, but that's because I couldn't do moves. An older guy (I was 12 or 13) showed me some stuff, and I was hooked. I liked VF way more than Tekken 1, but got a PS instead of Saturn (glad for that).

Liked VF2, but liked T2 better (don't shoot me). Played both often, but mostly T2. When I first played T3, I was hooked again. Then I saw VF3. It was fun, but I didn't like the addition of the dodge button. Other than that, it was great, yet I played T3 more. Oh, and Taka rules.

Played a lot of TTT, and T4, but never saw VF4 in arcades. So I got my first VF4 experience on PS2, and I'm hooked for life. VF4 is so incredible, and looking at vids from the arcade...the graphics are mind-numbing. I can't wait to get my paws on Evo, be it on arcade, PS2, Xbox, don't care. Video's can't hold me much longer. And if the home conversion features Taka...I will cry for joy.

Thing is most people have theyre timelines screw up so they think VF1 squared up against T1 and VF2 against T2 etcetera.
Its not true tough, when Tekken1 was released Sega had already released VF2 and by the time T2 was released VF3 was making me giddy as a schoolgirl.

Oh yeah it kinda got lost but my point is that you have to look at the timelines, the actual dates those games were released, you have to compare T1 with VF2 etcetera and even then Vf2 was the earlier release.
Paints quite a bleak picture for Namco when you look at it that way.

I wasn't posting according to the release dates. I know the order is off. I was posting based on the order that I saw these games in the arcades. After VF1, VF games were hard to find in the arcades.

And even then, you're exaggerating the releases a little. VF2 and T2 were released in the same year. If you don't think so, it says in gamefaqs. That and several magazines I owned then compared the 2. But all this is besides the topic.

    Home release/arcade release.
And even so you were comparing games from different cycles in the fighting game era, its like comparing SF2 to KoF.

Just did a quick search, VF2 was released early on in 94 while Tekken2 was released more then a YEAR later in late 95 .
Both saw a home release in 96 while VF3 was released in 96 in arcades.

Oh and yes T1 was a 94 release as well and in fact well after VF2 had seen its release.

Heres a TEST for the people that own a saturn and ps1

pop in your VF1 and 2, and then pop in your tekken on the ps1 and compare how much the poly's gitter, and the overall execution of the games. Sega wins hands down for BEST 1st gen console 3d fighters.

I have to jump in here in Tekken´s defense sadly.
The VF1 we got in the West was seriously improved over the super glitchy version that launched with the Saturn in Japan.
