    On a real pad: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

    On a 360 pad: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or buy a stick.

on a pad for moves like that i just replace the real motions with ghetto SNK style motions. it's easier for me to do those (especially having played so many 2d fighters) on a pad than trying to buffer taps. so for byakko i do double fireball backward, tap forward + punch. works consistently for me. this kind of trick works for tons of moves. 360 pad stock is really iffy for fighters so do the sanding trick to make it work better if it's going to be your primary fighting game controller.

The last forward is tricky. Note: this doesnt work on 360 pad cause you get stuff like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif and whatnot. Getting a stick is recommendable.

Just get a stick for Akira.

This goes for anyone and everyone who wants to play him seriously.

Yes, there are some people who are quite good with him on a pad, but in comparison to the amount of people who have trouble playing him on a pad...you're just cheating yourself if you play him on pad.

I got a stick for Akira lol.

Anyways, you can beat the controller. Use dashing backwards, or forwards to get into your stance. Or use low punch as a starter.

Also, he's not THAT hard to use with a controller. You can setup (A) as K+G and everything default and he's ok. If you wanna get seriously complicated though, a Pad doesn't cut it.

Ok first of all it is quite possible to play Akira to any level with a pad but it depends on your dexterity with it. Ive been playing piano for 15 years so my fingers are pretty agile. And i have a few really good tricks to help you.

    1: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Instead do : /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gifultra slim pause then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
    2: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Do like mentionned above

But for all the crouching then foward moves you can basically do
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gifslim pause and the button input

3: For the DLC just input the first to hits like one move with the maximum buffering time possible in order to be able to have time to do your bodycheck in the end.

All this seems pretty complicated but i can assure you that i can pull those moves with maximum buffering speed 100% of the time

    P.S.

For the one frame knee i use something different i actually delay a bit my guard meaning i press /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif 1 or 2 frames before G and i release both at the same time. Kind of like Sliding the buttons ultra fast . For me it works really well now but took a lot of practice.

So learning the game with a stick is best but if your really into the pad thing like i am it is possible to acheive a really good akira but with a lot of dedication.

PLaying guilty gear like crazy helped me a lot too /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

I tried to use the pad too, which works MUCH better with the mod BTW! But I got the stick and it has a clear advantage over the pad with Akira (since that's my guy too.) After the first day with the stick, double palms like crazy! You kinda do need the stick with Akira, it really does make playing him easier. The DBLPLM is such an important move for him (it's his best move IMHO) because it has range, speed and power (what else would a good move have?) You need to be able to do the dblplm (byakku or whatever) in every round with Akira, it is really is a go-to move. Against some one who eats low P's and doesn't block, they'll learn to block after two of those or they're dead, and you NEED it from long range. Go with the stick, I tried both ways and I'm telling you the truth.
