So I've been an akira player for a long long time, but mostly just against a close friend of mine who pics wolf.

I'm really trying to take this game seriously and play at tournies and what not like i do other fighters, but after playing online since release, i really really struggle against good pai, jacky, jean, even akira players.

I really do not know what im doing wrong sometimes. It really seems like certain players can just do what ever they want, and im helpless to defend against it or evade it. Ill take 2 rounds off someone, then they 3-0 me 3-4 times in a row.

i get caught in strings where in between attacks, i cant even get a jab in, and the person just keeps throwing out stuff where i evade, i get it, i back dash, hit, block, immediately get thrown.

    any advice?

My guesses are that you're doing one or more of these things:

    1) Watching closely and not reacting fast enough.

    2) Attacking when it's not your turn.

    3) A little of both.

Number one is tough with Akira. His elbows require 2 or 3 taps to execute. Try Guard Buffering... Hold G and tap 66666... the instant you block something that's not a jab or the middle of a string, release G, hit P and watch what happens. If your opponent is mashing attacks, you'll get a huge SDE CH for a combo.

If your problem is two, you need to learn when to attack. Pay attention to step two of this 5-step guide.

Akira is tough, but the payoff is bad-ass.

Did this exist in VF4 Evo? In the tutorial about dealing with 2P, the computer blocks a 2P and immediately does a 66P. Does Guard Buffering explain it? Or is it just the computer?

I'm going to try this myself soon is to get use to your opponents characters by playing them on training mode and now the properties of their moves and probably some of their adv/dis-adv. Then utilize the right counter to deal with speed opponents who relentlessly attacks even when they are at a disadvantage. Relying on his 66P, 666P can only get you so far but not enough.
