I sometimes read about how VF2 can be played online, but I don't know how. How many people are actually playing it?

The PC version has an online feature.

I'm afraid I can't speak much more on the subject for I have never played it.

I have VF2 for PC, and there's a bunch of options to connect online, similar to those present in first Age of Empires games...

    Never tried anyway.

You need to know the ip (if you will connect to the opponent) of your opponent or just give it.
I've played sometimes many years ago, but the lag was so huge... but i'm speaking about the 56k modem's time.
I can't remember the specific options but just get the ip and put where you can and that's it.
There aren't servers where you can find opponents.

So its just a matter of "connect to [insert ip]"? I guess the host should create a session or something like that, right?

I'm going to try this soon with a buddy via Hamachi, do you guys think it will work?

    Isn't VF3 for Model 3 hardware?

Anyway, for playing VF2 online try to use Hamachi with your friend, and instead of the real IP adress, use the adress that Hamachi shows for you
