Hypespotting 2012

March 24/25, Thistle Hotel, Glasgow

This will be the first major Scottish fighting game tournament. There will be no problem for me sticking a casual VF5 set up or 2 on. If any of you actual VF players want to come along let me know and I can push for a proper VF tournament.

One of my mates is getting in contact with Sega to see if they could show some FS love. It's a while away so if you're open in March no reason not to take part!

Get Hype! On the 24th and 25th of March, Versus Scotland will be bringing Scotland its very own national fighters tournament – Hypespotting 2012. Happening in Glasgow, this will be Scotland’s largest games tournament to date and with all cash from tournaments going directly to the players, you can be sure to see some big names and popular faces in attendance!

We will host five tournaments over the two day event. With a cash pot and exclusive prizes donated from Capcom and Rising Star to name a few, plus the title of ‘Scottish Champion’ on the line, it’s all to play for. The official line up is SSF4:AE, Ultimate Marvel Versus Capcom 3 and King of Fighters XIII, with another two games to be decided by a community vote!

Taking place at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow city centre, Hypespotting 2012 will be very accessible for everyone, being within walking distance of Buchanan Bus Station and Queen Street train station; getting to the venue couldn’t be easier!

The area has plenty of affordable accommodation for the weekend and there are plenty of restaurants and bars for socialising and eating during the event. Also nearby is the legendary Sauchiehall Street, filled with pubs restaurants and clubs.

As usual for Versus Scotland events, this one is also a licensed event, with a bar being made available until 2am. We will also be providing an online stream over the weekend, to allow the world to share in the hype with us.

We will be hosting a series of online and offline events to make sure that everyone has a chance to level up their game – this is the official ‘road to Hypespotting’ ranking battle season. For more details on this event and the road to Hypespotting, check out http://www.hypespotting.co.uk.

 

There will be a casual set up at the very least, mate. I'll make sure of it. When the community vote rolls around I'm going to Vote VF5 anyway. It's shaping up to have no 3D fighters up as 3s will almost certainly get a spot and BB or AH are getting more and more popular up here.

If any of you English VF players are interested please let me know. Likewise If anyone else fancies a visit to Scotland. If I can put names down, I can push for a proper tournament with a cash prize. Might serve well to promote VF a little before FS drops in the summer.

If you can't make it the whole event will be getting streamed so if there's a VF tournament then it will be streamed as well.

It's still months away so there's plenty of time to sort out travel and hotels. Hell, it's held IN a hotel. (A nice one at that).

For VF? I'll post a thread on NE tonight and I'll see what kind of interest there is. Wouldn't hurt to have one here as well.

So far there has been a decent display of interest on Neoempire.com in favour of VF5 with a few people saying they would come to Glasgow for VF. I'm gonna try and push for VF to be the community single tournament. If I can get some more names for VF and if anyone wants to help make a video, write a few paragraphs push VF in a podcast, whatever, it would help so much.

If we get VF up as an official tournament there will be a guaranteed cash prize!

 

Newcasle's No.1 Jeffry shall be in attendance. A bunch of the SF guys here are planning on travelling up too, so there should be a good few of us in attendance. Sounds like a sick event so far, especially the 24hr opening time. A nice turn out for VF would really be the icing on the cake.

I need to try and promote VF and Hypespotting as much as possible before the third week of October so if anyone can do anything to help please do and link it here. A mention in a podcast, a blog, a video, a graphic. ANYTHING at all.

VF will be there as a casual game regardless but I want to try and push forr it to get the community 1v1 tournament. I can't make any videos so what I'm gonna do is just spread about the random music videos on youtube and write up some stuff.

First thing is to get VF5 on the vote (have 3 weeks to get it up there) then there will be a vote (open for about a month) Going to try and get as many votes as possible

 

I have a few VF videos on my youtube account (search Seid0n) I can post all of them but aside from that I can't edit any videos or make any graphics

 

I think we can arrange something here. I'd have to talk to you in detail on what you'd want.

 

Nothing too much, I just a wee video a couple of minutes long saying why VF should be featured at the event.
