Play a few hundred more matches... you'll get them.
BTW, you have to be above 2nd dan to get some items anyway.

 

In Kumite you must beat other Pai characters that is other ai's to get their items.To unlock more costumes simple go through the ranks to Champion ( 10-1 Kyu,1-10 Dan,Hero,Champion...... is the series).You can only rank up at Dan level by beating plenty opponents of the same rank.You can also get items by doing certain things like reversing a lot in a fight and also in versus when playing against friend's character files.
