I am on mame.....

Finally got some roms and mame hooked up to my new computer. Mostly been playing Killer instinct and Sam Showdown 4. Does anyone play on Kaillera? Just wondering.

 

welcome to the club! I just got hooked on mame a week ago, and have heard of this Kaillera server that hosts online MAME games?

I was told to download winkawaks v1.45 but all it contains are 90 kb worth of data files. You got any clue how to set MAME to play online?

 

still trying to figure it out. lol. I'll let you know if I find out. I am so computer illiterate.

 

kaillera is so laggy with desync problems on fighting games, I gave up the frustration long time ago.

If they fix the desync or lag problem let me know =P

 

I use zsnes for an emulator and play online using zbattle.net, when it works good its great, but theres always problems like rom version mismatches and not many players on, so you can wait hours befor you find a game that works Its pretty fun to play MK or contra3 with other peeps when it does work though

 

despite what you might hear about lag, kaillera's really fun. It especially works for games where lag is less serious... think co-op mercs or contra or head to head bust-a-move. I play puzzle fighter online (which is VERY lag dependent) but still have fun. I'm sure I'd be having less fun if it were SFA2 or something.

Anyway I must be the only guy in the world who doesn't use mame in favor of some of the others... .I use winkawaks, which is pretty user friendly. To play online you just choose the option to go online, download a list of servers... and these will be automatically sorted according to which has the lowest ping. You want to join the one with the lowest ping, definitely. Often it's the one geographically closest to you.
Once you've joined you'll be in a chatroom and you'll see available/waiting games sitting at the bottom of the screen. Click one to join it and off you go. Or start your own and hope someone comes along and wants to play KI with you.

Hope that helped, I think the kaillera setup for all emus is about the same.

 

Yes I play on kaillera. I'd like to play you or anybody else sometime. I'd love to introduce you to my "crew"( which consists of 2 guys.)
