1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I don't know where I heard this (4chan?) but I'd like to validate it...

Is it true Jean and Goh were designed by Namco's Tekken character designers as some sort of "trade" for Tekken 5 using a similar customization system to VF4?

Goh was introduced in VF4 which came out a few years before Tekken 5. While both Goh and Jean are edgy characters that would fit in the current Tekken cast, I have a hard time believing that rumor you posted.

I've heard this rumour before too, but couldn't find any source for it.

Well maybe just Jean then, although Goh has similar hallmarks of design that suggest they came from the same mind.

Back then i felt that Goh and Brad were a bit "Tekken" in their design, but i never heard about this rumour, hum i don't think so, and that trad off thing is for sure bullshit, too many BS stuffs comes from 4 chan too, but there is always a possibility that Sega hired a designer that worked on Tekken before, it's a usual thing that a designer works on many projects, mari shimazaki for example designed Bayonetta, also some characters in Okami, and Kazumi and Josie in Tekken, she also designed some costumes for some female characters in Soul Calibur.

Capcom for SFV has a lot of characters made by designers in house, but also some characters were designed by external designers and not necessarily Japanese, like Boxer, Urien, and Juri, i think this may be what happened with VF, they made most characters with inhouse designers, and some others by external designers (maybe because of lack of time, or maybe they wanted to try some unorthodox for VF), like Goh, or Jean, you can feel the constrast of those 2 compare to the core/classic roster, meanwhile i feel that Elieen and El Blaze were in the spirit of the core roster, so those 2 likely been designed by inhouse designers (of course that's just me speculating here)

I've heard a similar rumour a few years ago, long before I joined this forum. It's slightly possible, that Jean might have been designed, by an outside designer. Possibly someone from namco,or a hired artist, who worked on some tekken characters. But Goh, I doubt it. Or maybe those rumours are false.

But this sentence here has me thinking. Maybe that might be what Harada meant, when he said there was some cross pollination, between Tekken and Virtua Fighter.
