1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. I played it on 360 (GC Germany)

    Hi there!

First I have to admit that I´m totally new to the VF series, but since I saw the first VF5 vids I can´t wait to get my hands on the 360 version of this game.

The build I could play on 360 last sunday seems to be an almost final build, every character and stage was available, I didn´t notice any bugs and even no tearing, aliasing or any slowdowns.

I did play a few rounds against a buddy who didn´t play any VF before either.Loading times before matches lastet about 10 sec.

We both were surprised, how accessible the game was, even for newcomers like us. We had some tense, quite balanced matches and became a short overview of how much there obviously is left that we have to learn to become able to perform some more fluent fights.

My friend had been sceptical of Vf before and didn´t agree to my thougths that this title is worth a purchase and the investment of a lot of time to become good at it.

Since we played those 5 to 7 matches, he has been convinced that it´ll be worth it´s money and that he has to get it and that we´ll have a hell lot of fun competing against each other after choosing our favourite and practicing hard.

If you got any specific questions feel free to ask!

Why are you spamming the same post (word for word)you put up on gamespot? Makes me think youre some kind of guerilla marketor working for Sega. Well congrats on playing it early, either way.

Probably because the Gamespot/Gamefaqs VF boards are dead, so he figured he would "move" the thread here where he'll get a decent amount of responses. =/

There are quite a few Germans already, judging from some threads. A couple more definately wouldn't hurt though.

Never thought of trying to set up something with the Eastern neighbours really... Could be fun. Expensive lil gag though, or not. Depending on where they live Amsterdam could be further off for me.

What's been rocking my boat are the new customization options and whether or not they're planning to update the game in the future. But I'd be surprised if you knew anything about that. Also how they handled the continuing issues with the PAL 50/60Hz settings, but that's similarly hard to see in a showcase environment.

I played it at Leipzig too. It was under "network conditions", apparently. It was only very slightly slower, making hit-throws trickier (but not too much). Fuzzy guarding will also not work online (phew).

Oh so lucky. I have to wait until October to play. What parts of the game did you get to play? Did you see any of the customizable items? Just curious.

fuzzy guarding will not work online? if you cant fuzzy or get guaranteed attacks, it wont really be virtua fighter but just some nonsense where you and your opponent take turns throwing out moves. lets hope thats not the case.

I was able to test the Dojo mode and in the XBoxLIVE VIP area we played VS on one console.
In the first case it wasn´t possible to leave the dojo mode, when playing versus we didn´t try to.
We were happy with what we had. ;-)
I didn´t realize any display where you could play "under network conditions", ElectricLeo did you play it behind closed doors?

I played it on Sega's press/business stand. Murayama-san told me it was over an internet connection, not a LAN.

Also, to say Virtua Fighter is nonsense without fuzzy is both wrong and elitist. There are plenty of players who enjoy the game to level way beyond button bashing that can't fuzzy. Like me. Because fuzzy is pretty fucking hard to do. Throw escapes and evading throw escapes are easier and are a good stop-gap solution for the less dedicated, and they still work online. It's just removal of some uber-level techniques. Losing a frame or two will effect a number of situations, but we don't know how the code is going to work yet. There might be some extra rules in place to ensure throws always work at certain frames, for instance.

Of course, I'll be avoiding online play, but that's easy enough to do since I know loads of people who live in London who play, so we can hook up any time we like. Not everyone's that fortunate, though, and I'm selfish enough to want to deny them the best game ever made just because online conditions are not up to tournament standard.

Murayama san also said there was 30-50 new items for each character, though I didn't get to do any customisation. Each of the characters had a few new items on them, though. El Blaze had the ace rooster-style mask. That's all I remember now.

in my opinion and in ALOT of peoples opinions, fuzzy and guaranteed attacks are an important part of vf. It's really not that tough to do either if you sit down and try to work on it for a few days. Up to -6, you dont even need to cd, just tap down. How can that be harder that putting in multiple throw escpaes. Tapping down?

I already knew this was going to happen from playing DoA online years ago, yea fuzzy just doesn't work when lag is involved.

However online play period shouldn't be used for serious practice and I hope people don't look for that in online play or we may be going down DoA road already.

Use only to find people, teach people (if you already know how to play vf), and practice other aspects of your game (ie yomi).

If online play expands the community, then "yay!".

However, getting the VF5 demo up on the PSN and XBOX Live stores is a much better way to expand the community methinks, as is updating the PS3 version with Version C and online.

Lag has got to be even worse than I expected if fuzzy @ -6 doesn't work. The properties of crouch dashes pretty much do the work for you at that disadvantage, there's almost no timing involved. If fuzzy doesn't work at -6, then I don't see how anything related to responding to a blocked attack will work.

Oh, and L_A_Akira, thanks for the new sig /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
