If you could pay for a pantload of VF clips...

what movies would you want, and how much would you pay?

I'm thinking of doing something like burning a bunch of VF movies (and/or information) to CD's and shipping these CD's out to people.

I once stupidly thought I could burn and send the entire VF archive to a bunch of people at cost. But it's just too big. I'm sorry to everyone I tricked into thinking they had any hope of getting the complete VFA.

Currently I have a few ideas floating around -

    <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="http://virtuafighter.com/versuscity/dopoll.php"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="pollname" VALUE="1025858431CreeD">

    VF movie packages
<input type="radio" name="option" value="1" />A 'best of all the VF4 moves' disc (or two discs). Something like my favorite 50 movies.
<input type="radio" name="option" value="2" />A best of disc for each character. How much footage will fit on one disc depends entirely on the character, and whether I feel like re-encoding stuff. Maybe 30-40 clips on one disc.
<input type="radio" name="option" value="3" />All the movies related to one particular famous player burnt onto CD. i.e. I could fit all my chibita stuff on 2 CD's. Kyasao on 1. Everyone else on 1.
    <input type="radio" name="option" value="4" />Or, ... and this is tremendously unlikely... would anyone want ALL the movies of VF4 that currently exist? (I exaggerate slightly, I've missed a few) .. that's 22 CD's folks.

    <INPUT TYPE=Submit NAME=Submit VALUE="Submit vote" class="buttons"></form>

And finally, what would you pay for whichever package you might want?
It's 43 cents per CD. (I know this is a bit high, that's figuring the cost of having a bunch of them delivered straight to my door)
I'd want at least 10 bucks per hour for my time and effort, and each CD is 6.5 minutes. I did some math and came up with 20 dollars for time and materials to send the complete package of 22 CD's. That's before shipping and handling. For a one-or-two disc package, I'd still want no less than 10 bucks. Call me a capitalist pig.

Creed, your sick and twisted ploy at advertising virtua fighter(!!!) media will end up with nothing but success. And for that I salute you.

...and HOLY SHIT, just now this big spider came descending down his web (from ceiling) right in front of the monitor and in my face!! sorry, if this traumatizes others as well...

anyway... yeah i'll be the first to admit that we have a great idea in the air here, and that it would garner widespread interest and purchasing action among avid vf4 fans. I prefer us selecting character specific discs so we're not limited to bringing home more cds than desired. Making the content focus on specific characters would in my opinion encourage vfers to select different characters, because videos are a great medium to demonstrate how the "hard" or doubtful characters are played properly. Those who are curious how Lau is more than just a pppk machine just may buy his cd if it's part of a bundle. Plus, many others will find it advantageous honing their character' game by buying the cds that show their character in action

As to whether I'd pay for this kind of service is still in limbo..but I think in the end I won't be able to resist /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

My disgustingly fast connection allows me to get most of the movies I want as soon as they're up...

As for the VF Archive, I'm almost done downloading the entire first disc. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to have the whole thing in about a year, no worries /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

Al: I would never consider trading VF for warez or porn. Unless of course it's really nice 3D rendering software, or really nasty granny porn.

Yeah anyway, let me take a second to say that a good point was made - most people can just DL this stuff at high speed. People with crapass connections might be more likely to become customers. So what's in it for someone with a highspeed connection?

-No need to fish for the movies from various sources, I've already hunted them down.
-No DLing hassle. It's a pain in the ass to get some movies, like rizm.net, or realmedia, or streaming asx's. You can watch the movies without the wait.
-You can get clips that are no longer available anywhere on the net. I can think of four or five sites off the top of my head that puts up a clip, then takes it down shortly thereafter. You won't need to ask friends or japanese BBS's to hook you up.
-Finally, and this is the big one - sifting through something like 25 hours of footage is a pain in the ass, but I'd include with my package an index that tells you who's playing who, and how good the match is (on a scale of 1-5 stars). That'd keep someone from firing up a random CD and watching a dozen crappy movies and feeling ripped off.

Hell yeah! I'd spend $20 to have the entire archives. It's hell trying to get one clip let alone the entire thing what with my POS 56k.

yee yee yeah! in spite of my fast connection, for lazy people like me and many others, someone doing us the favor of editing, formatting, compiling movies, and putting it all onto disc for a small price is godsend
