SEGA of America are currently advertising for the role of Assistant Community Manager

yeah random right? but i figured to post this after finding out this out from another site. i'll post that story here and provide the link, with any luck maybe someone from VFDC and hook up with then and revive the scene.

the job looks over the fan communities in different areas, sonic fan games, fighting games just the over bridge between the fans and sega themselfs.

I'm sure he is quite satisfied with his own company than to work for Sega as a community manager.

I first saw about the opening on Sega's facebook page. I considered about the position, but I'm not sure if I'd be willing to commute to the Bay area for the job.

 

While I agree with Shag that Gerald could care less about such a position, he is the ideal person though. He understands the business, can communicate on both sides of the ponds and just overall a very fair lovable guy.

They're probably looking for a "professional" Sonic fanboy... I don't honestly expect a Seth Killian to emerge outta Sega of America and build a congregation of VF5FS/VF6 believers and ultimately have a mass flood of VF talk/posts on this and other sites (cough cough SRK cough)... I don't expect the same for the PSO community either... To be honest, it seems like he/she doesn't even have to know a damn thing about a Sega game, as long as he/she can write/talk about it, and ultimately sell it, they're eligible...

But then again, you never know... That new hire might be their ticket to success, but that all depends on who they say yes to... They can just hire some schmuck who's just a "yes man" and knows nothing about Sega...

It would be nice to know, however, that the person they do hire would be willing to post frquently on sites like this and pso-world, and actually update us cats about things he/she can update us on. Actual interaction with the players/fans outside of the Sega forums is key imo, because it shows you're a go-getter, and you understand that not all of Sega's fans can be found only at their website...

 

This is a dream job for me honestly. I'd love to get paid to communicate with various Sega communities besides the Sonic one.

Well you definitely have my support for that, especially as a fellow Jeffry player and XBL comrade!!! I do hope you manage to pull through, given your dedication to and knowledge of anything Sega related...
