Hi, I'm new to the VF-scene, but not to the fighting scene.
After spending some time with Sarah in sparring I found something
intersting which I made a video off.

So I'd like to use this video to come into the community with a boom /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

    Instant Flamingo (IFL)

    Any questions, just ask away.

this is the cancel into flamingo stance. I have to say i am impressed on how quickly you can transition towards a move into a flamingo cancel. (This is the exact reason she my favorite character with her tricky style of gameplay). Well done.

You can become quite tricky if you were to master that.(I don't think i could do it as well at least not currently)
Do this and some flamingo setups and you look good to go.

Freyja, hate to break it to ya, but /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif cancelling /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to enter Flamingo has been around since VF4 FT.

Try reading the command lists some time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif you'll find many other attacks that can be /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif cancelled into Flamingo!

There is a slight animation glitch present in certain circumstances when you input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif during recovery of at least certain moves (I used sidekick) but Im not sure if the actual flamingo is faster than normal. Will test more.

Edit: on further testing it looks like something worth using in normal play, Im gonna give it a try in online /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Sarah effectively warps to flamingo skipping most of the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif animation. It might create some new combos in floats maybe..

Edit after PK its even faster.

You're both missing the main point, I'm well aware of G-cancel from 4K+G. However, if you're buffering the 4K+GG into the recovery of another move/throw etc. it skips out almost all of the animtion of going into FL.

I've tried doing this without buffering it, the fastest I pulled the input off on was 2f (1f for 4K+G and 1f for G again) and it still wasn't close to how fast the animation goes when you do this.

Unfortunatley I'm not aware of any other character that can G-cancel a move like Sarah can with 4K+GG, and therefor I cannot test if this "glitch" would apply to all moves g-canceled into a stance. I do know that it does not apply to moves that just go into a stance afterwards.

Try it out for yourselves a few times, you should be able to have the animation come out in less than 5f if you're timing it right.

Freyja is right... this glitch turns most moves into flamingo starters... o_O

This is not a joke post btw.

edit: I just tested the glitch also works in ps3 version. You have to input b+K+G~G during the last few frames of a moves recovery looks like.

I wonder if this is because buffering the entire b+K+G~G during a moves recovery makes the game think the b+K+G is canceled in 0 frames?

I do not think, your "instant flamingo" method, is instant or even takes less than 5 frames. You definitely can buffer the G-cancel so that it appears instant (ie, Sarah's will not shout). Try this in Dojo....

    1. Set computer opponent to "Guard and Counterattack 3"
    2. Do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, which is guarded by CPU.
    3. Input immiediately /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif for your "instant" flamingo to the 9 frame /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.
    4. If the "instant flamingo" truly takes 0 frames or less than 5 frames, Sarah's punch would beat out the CPU's fast mid counterttack.

By the way, welcome to VFDC!

OK I see what Frejya means now. I just played with it a little and couldn't really find any extra combo-ability with it -- but then again, I don't play Sarah!

It'd be interesting to see if anyone can incorporate this technique to chain a FL combo where it otherwise wouldn't connect.

I also dont think there is anything broken in it, but I was hoping someone with faster fingers than me could have tested it and told his/her opinion. Doing it after P is hard enough. I couldnt interrupt even elbow after blocked P, but it was hard to tell if I even got the cancel in the first place. At any rate its propably useful as flowchart option at least.

Apart from faster(?) entry into Flamingo after, say, a knockdown, it might serve well to pysche the opponent out. I still think Sarah can be one of the better rush-down type characters out there!

While it is true that it isn't instant in the way that you don't get to attack instantly after doing it, it's animation is still instant and that's what's important.
Because what you say is true, that under those circumstances they will beat you out.

However, concidering that you will be playing people most of the time this move is in my mind meant purely as a solid mindgame tactic. Because if you do, say, ff+K+G on your opponent you have a bit of options, first of you could go for the guaranteed ff+K+G, K.
You could also do ff+K+G, K~G, the only problem with this is that it becoems a static mixup between those two moves, although useful it is still something which you can react too (since you're allready in a stun).
But if you just do ff+K+G then you will have a whole other set of options. You have uf+P+G which hits them one of the first few frames if the struggle out of the stagger, you can sweep if you expect them to be looking out for the throw, or do any other useful move with the same reach.
And you can also IFL which leads to even more pressure.

Think of IFL as a way to increase your options in a mindgame situation by one more move, because like I said, the use I see for this right now is purley as mindgames.

And also, I'm glad I'm here at VFDC!

Actually I found this out too when I was playing a while back vs. LA_Akira and Itabashi Zangeif.

However I just thought it was the speed I was cancelling at and nothing special, but good stuff for posting about.

There is a very weird effect about this that I just wanted to point out.

When I was playing LA_Akira and Itazan, my absolute favorite set up is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

When I did the "Instant Flamingo" or hell I guess "Flamingo Install" lol, the catch throw seemed to come out faster too but maybe that's just. I know both LA_Akira and Itazan were suprised by it and it seemed to work everytime I tried it so long as I wasn't repetitive in setting it up.

    0 Frame catch throw lol?

Actually, the good thing about this move is trapping people when they teach roll. FL is extremely tricky when approaching a TRing opponent....unless his name is akira (double plm).

If you look at the replays that came with the game, you'll see the sarah player trying to use it all the time.

It's also quite decent when Sarah's elbow Mc's an opponent...just watch out for RN players...*cough SDE *

Ice 9 hates it when I do it to him haha

ahh nice something else i can mess with later I guess. Nice to find its a sorta glitch correct?

But it seems like it could be useful because you cancel into flamingo quickly leaving the opponent kinda confused.

Now that i think about it,I know what it is. I've done it b4 a couple of times. Its like you cancel into FL immediately directly after a move and you go enter FL faster. Seems like it be useful for pressuring as well. Overall good find.

As Summah implied, I don't think it's a glitch but part of Sarah's design. It's kinda like an iageri move for Sarah (similar to Jacky's) except it's to get into stance. I think it's the only move not listed in the Black Book.

(I'm not a Sarah player so please don't be mad with me asking) has somebody tested/made a list with all the moves that can be cancelled <s>this way</s> with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif ?

They are all available on the command list in the site menu for Sarah. There is a comment to the side of the move that tells you weither it can be canceled into Flamingo or not.

I think he means a list of moves which can be canceled into IFL.
But that would basically be all of the moves, because it can be done after anything, even K~G.
However, a list of moves which benefit better from IFL would be useful, PK comes to mind, and while rising K+G.

hmmm I think it's best on wake up if you ask me. Or maybe even /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif though it might not be practicaly.
