Ali and I recently finished up work on an interview with Mr. Osaki, one of the lead directors at Sega-AM2. Besides talking about subjects like Outrun and video game violence, we also discussed the upcoming Virtua Fighter Cyber Generation, where we learned about its place in the VF series and a bit more about what the future of VF will be like (including the online issue). I'm sure the news will be of great interest to many people here, and I hope you all will enjoy the work Ali and I put into it.

The interview is scheduled to go up at GameSpy (http://www.gamespy.com) on about Tuesday. Please check it out!

Did Osaki say anything else about VF5 off record that you may be able to share?

    Advertise everything but VF...?

It's funny how: Max Payne, Socom, Ghost Recon, Halo 2, Half-Life 2, GTA3, Gran Turismo, Initial D, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Sonic, Pokemon, Kurby, Megaman, The Matrix, Smash Brothers, Super Mario 3, Tetris, and finally...Duke Nukem Forever, are all mentioned in what I thought was going to be a VF, or at least AM2 related article.

Oh well. More about VF5 and Sammy owning Sega. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What are you guys smoking? VF5 is going to be in the arcade first. Then come to which ever system that has the most market share in the demographic that VF5 is designed to appeal to. Nothing more to that.

That part about the most powerful hardware... it applies to the arcade sector, otherwise, VF4 evo would have been out for xbox. ....

Because we all know AM2's only worthwhile game is VF4, right? I mean... they don't really make anything else. Because of that, why else would they be concerned with anything going on in the industry? It certainly doesn't affect VF. Of course not.

Awesome interview. I'm not too interested in VF CG though i will give it a rent to see for sure. I just can't wait for VF5. I was never very patient

Nice interview. Shame he couldn't be drawn into revealing some Shenmue 3 details.

At this rate we'll all be in retirement homes when the 3rd installment comes out.

Duke Nukem forever doesn't affect VF in the least bit. But does Sammy's relationship with Sega...NURRRRR YES?? So why wasn't that in there?

Seriously, If I wanted to waste my time looking at the latest video game news I'd scramble for gamespy/spot and ign for news. You really think all of us care what goes on in the industry..LOL. The only thing we wanted was some raw VF info, and maybe the deal with Sega's latest business practices.

You say AM2's only worthwhile game is VF..no one cares...this site is VFDC..Virtua Fighter..so really all most of us care about is well..VF related articles when regarding AM2. Yeah sure they have other stuff, and I'm not discrediting them..but VF is the only AM2 game I'm into.

Does it matter that Rockstar cranks out many craptacular games (State of Emergency...etc.)...all most people care about is GTA3..and the GTA3 of the AM2 community seems to be VF:Evo. If I expected an interview about GTA:4 and then ended up it being some kind of psuedo-advertisment for Smugglers Run: 5 or SOE: X-box version...well...imho that's what happened with this interview.

No offense, we all appreciate what you are doing, but I feel I was sold short on this interview. I was expecting stuff like "VF:5..online in the states or no..?" and then "Yes..they want it" or "Wait..they play VF in America [*room revertabratedsd with laffter**]"

Me no likey racing games, but I finally played Outrun2 last night -- it's quite lovely. Was very impressed. I suck at it though. The chic riding shotgun kept bonking me on the head.
