Catherine and I can't make it tonight. We're taking a break from the floor tonight (it's been 8am to midnight for three days in a row), but it's for events planned two weeks ago.

Catherine was commenting on how much we miss you all - it's been too long since we've gotten together.

    Soon everything will match up.

    Back to work now.

Just wondering how everyone in SoCal crew is doing; haven't been online for awhile. I look forward to the next chance I'll get to play you guys. And I've just converted a good friend of mine to VF. I got him to spend his extra change on Evo instead of a Tekken title. Now he's playing it seriously. Another friend of mine is interested in learning, so it's very possible that if I show up at a future meet, there will be two new guys with me.

Hope things are going well for each of you.

    Peace out,

    Afro

    hey guys,

Andy is supposed to be back sometime this week, so we should get together once he's back.

Thanks for hosting last week, Willy.

I'll try to get a hold of Andy and Joey

Who's near Santa Barbara, CA?? I need to find someone that has the game so I can leech. I want to buy it and play competitively, but not if i'm gonna be playing alone. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif

    What up what up.

I'm in the San Fernando Valley. 23. A writer. Just rediscovering VF4Evo and the whole "VF thing." But I'll SO never play competitively. I'm brash, I rush in, and I tend to not block a lot. Heh.

    But....I'm here. Hi. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You fucking registered so you could post your desire to steal a $20.00 game that we were lucky to have published in the US.

    Please don't come back.

I visit the valley often, but I only want to play competitively. You play with friends or anything? I don't necessarily mean high calibur or anything. I just want to be able to play with some people.

And to the other dude, chill. Read my second sentence, guy. I will buy it if I can play it with others in my area. Playing a fighter by yourself is like buying a hoe and jerking yourself off. I'm not trying to steal anything. And how the fuck do you publish a videogame?

Hey, MarkMan. Is there a good VF4 post on TZ anywhere?

If leeching isn't stealing, what is it?

You make an analogy between VF Evo and a hoe. So respectful.

So rather than buy the hoe, you want to kidnap the hoe and jerk off. Nice.

So, according to you, everyone that purchased their game and uses training mode to better their skills is also jerking off with this hoe. Also nice.

I read your sentence - "If there's no one to play it with me, I'll steal it."
    That's supposed to be OK?

By "publishing" I mean: duplicated and distributed by the manufacturer for sale in the United States.

I don't want to chill. People on this board put a lot into VF Evo and actually contributed directly to it. Spotlite translated the Japanese for Sega for the US release of Evo (he's credited in the instruction book). There's tons of information on this board on how to play VF - it's all free. There's video captures of high quality matches for download - all for free. People visit Japan and report back news - for free. You come along and won't even buy the game (I guess I appreciate your honesty - "I want to steal this - can anyone hook me up?") There's a fucking $14 "buy it now" on Ebay.

Dude, get the stick out your ass and shut the fuck up. I said, "leech" because I just wanted someone to play with while I check the scene and buy the game myself, when I get my paycheck. I didn't take the trouble to explain myself because I didn't expect a reaction like this from some random dumbass.

What's up with your lust for everything VF4? Every other video game I play has similar websites and FREE shit as well. What's the big fucking deal?

And the word, "publish" applies to printed material, like literature, articles, music, etc.

God, forget I even posted. I ain't coming near your dumbass. I'm sure I can find another FREE site for this game. Fuck's sake. Something's wrong with you.

I've heard leech used to describe getting stuff off of people's PCs as in "hey, you can leech this off my hard drive."

If leech means "go to someone's house who has the game," I apologize profusely. I've never heard anyone use the word leech for that scenario.

Nothing's wrong with me. I thought you were looking to pirate the software and I felt like getting all parental on your ass cause it pissed me off. I care about people's hard work.

By the way, since you're into creative word usage and attacking my semantics, what are videogames if they're not "published?"

Which reminds me, "Fight Club" the game is being developed. Sounds like suckcity to me.

In the meantime, I'm sure if these guys want to physically duke it out, the rest of us LA people can get a pot going - I'm sure we can get $15 together for the winner...and if dude wins, he can buy himself VF4Evo.

As for me, I totally appreciate all the stuff on this site. Amazing jobs all around with the translations, moves, info...it's great. If I had my own place, you scurvy rockraiders would all be welcome to crash and play.

    Heh, that's ok. I don't want that.

Actually I'm looking forward to meeting you (and maybe even Moos /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif - though I don't know if he'll go for that). I think he wanted to burn a copy, then tried to back out of it when confronted - but he's the only one who knows for sure.

If he wanted a burnt copy, I think that sucks. If he just wanted to try someone else's game, I'm sorry I jumped all over him. I wish he'd been a little clearer than "leech." Maybe he'll rent Evo.

Still looking forward to a big get-together at our place in February.

We've had get togethers at my place over the last couple of years. My wife and I have a house, so it's possible to have 5 or 6 PS2 set-ups running with some room to spare. The last one happened October 4th, 2003. You can read a little about it earlier in this thread.

I'm thinking Friday, February 13th for the next one. I'll make an official announcement when I'm sure about this.

Get togethers have gone very well. They usually start around 7 or 8 pm and have run till 6 or 7 the next morning. Typically 10 to 20 people will show. Plenty of heavy competition all night long. Everyone that has come to our place has been very pleasant - there has never been any drama from people getting upset. Age of players ranges from early 20s to mid 30s. I think I'm the old man (34).

Catherine (my wife) and I stock the refridgerator with plenty of soda for everyone. People normally go in for pizza. There's also lots of fast food places near our house.

    New players are always welcome.
