is it RROD season?

ok so everybody I talk to lately is getting RROD.... In the last little while I've talked to over ten people whos Xbox's got the RROD in january(very strange).

With the way skate 2 has been performing on mine (skipping frames constantly and not managing a smooth framerate at all, buzzing noises originating in the disk drive that occasionally start and then stop etc) im beginning to worry that mine is next.

Wtf is with these things? im starting to believe theres a timed mechanism in them that gives them a set lifeline before they crap out on you.

 

Apparently that recent update on live has been causing lots of cases of RRoD.

 

What, for real?

Just RROD mine and it was fixed and sent back in 2 weeks. All in all, not a very longtime to wait. I did however send a nasty comment when I filed my repair, so who really knows if that expediated the process??

When you sent yours in, what exactly did you do, you call microsoft is there some special number?

I've got my OG xbox that has RROD from a year and a half ago I need to send in this month before the warranty runs out. And then I'm going to sell it, but I have no idea where to even begin.

Also, Kaminari the repair process never takes long. It's usually about 1 - 2 weeks.

 

Cool thanks man, I need to get poppin on calling M$ to get my old xbox fixed, before it's too late. Then sell it off with a couple games. I'll be putting up a ton of stuff for sale that's not getting any use.

VFnums has been hit with a single rrod in the bottom-right hand quadrant. The error message is E73 and from what I know, its related to the ethernet port.

Good thing he has vf5 and t5dr on his ps3 hahaha

 

Two red rings is caused by the Xbox overheating. You might want to make sure it's in a ventilated area and not on top of or under something else.

I finally got the three rings for the first time since I bought mine years ago. I fixed it that night and have been fine for the last 3 weeks. It's the same as putting thermal gel on a CPU. Not too much trouble. Just look at a youtube video if you don't know how to open it. I've been fixing for friends for a few months now and trust me, this is not "my thing".
