Is Lau Really "Dying"?

Hi everyone!

I've recently started playing VF5 and I am about to invest the time to learn the game mechanics and Lau's moveset. But I heard a rumour that Lau might not be returning in VF6 (because he's "dying")? Anyone know if there's any truth in that, because if so I'll move on to a different character so my effort is put to greater benefit down the road?

It's a videogame, he can't really die!

Anyway, this has been going on since VF2/3 if I remember right. I don't think they will get rid of him, it's just those Japs have a strange sense of humour /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

 

he's just been heavy on the smokes lately is all.

i'm pretty sure sega wouldn't can one of the original and most popular vf characters for some shitty plot twist (i'm pretty sure even sega's ignoring the vf "plot" at this point).

 

He's definitely kicking the bucket in 6. Ever since he got dat AIDS from Shun, it's been downhill for him

 

I wonder what Sega AM2 will do with Pai's development after 5.

 

The question should be: Is Lau really alive?!

 

The thing I like is that AM2 despite not making the VF game story driven clearly has the newer modeled Lau very sickly. Look at his VF4 design then look at his VF5 design, it's like he is on his last leg now.
If they do decide to do it they would probably replace him with Lan Di or another look alike. Or pull a Tekken and have him as the real final boss of VF6.

 

In all honesty shouldn't Shun die first since he's a whole lot older than Lau. Like shoot Lau had his black hair back when shun was killing his liver with his gray hair.

I've heard the rumour that Lau is gonna die from my Japanese VF friend.

But new character will get succeed all of Lau's move from him.

I've also heard same as drunk old man.

 

Sega is not that stupid to kill one of the most known icons of VF :couffcouff:Midway did with Liu Kang:couffcouff:

 

You mean Shun? Anyway, it even says this is Lau's last fight at the VF wiki, which was from the VF5 Manual.

Look at Lau as of VF 5, all the wrinkles and sudden gray hair...There's even that one intro pose for Lau, where he's wheezing and everything...Sega is really showing Lau on his last legs now, and I don't mind at all really...

I say kill him off and replace Shun Di with his apprentice that's been spoken of in his profiles...In fact, these things could be endings in a story mode of a home release of R, if that ever happens that is...

 

He won't die. sometime i even forget him and Shun have gray hair and wrinkles because of the costume and alterations. You can't kill Shun. I can't imagine a young drunken master in VF sorry.

 

agreed. It has to be the turtle hermit Shun FTW (so glad he has that costume now in ver. D)

Is Lau really dying? So who is going to replace Lau who is eventually dead? The next installment maybe bring back the Arab fighter named Siba and a new Chinese character fight with Drunken Fist, Sing Lung, Shun's only desciple. Or maybe, Pai learn Koen Ken from Lau before he dies, Lei Fei steal the Koen Ken scroll from Lau secret's temple in China, I don't know whether you all heard of Liu Kowloon, he is actually the only desciple Lau had, who had killed by Dural. He is a rising martial arts practitioner in the Koenkan, he had plotted to use his upcoming marriage to Pai in order to become the next successor to Lau Chan as the next head of the Koenkan. Unfortunately, Akira, Jacky and Sarah rescued Pai in Hong Kong, foiling his plot.

He's dying in VF6, I guess so...

I hate fighting with him. He's so fast and gives damn big damages

Lau's "dying" state would be a good time to throw some type of Bryan Fury or Crank twist in the Vf5 plot... KoenKen mach breaker anyone???

 

If that were to happen, I'd think it would be against his will.

And during mid-surgury, Pai would bust in kicking ass. Seeing this, Lau would regain what strength he has to join in the ass-kickery.

Both father and daughter will have the touching family moment after years of being apart...


... Then he dies. And Pai will do the fist pump in the air, cursing J6.



(And really, who wants to see Lau with Dural's mecha-boobs?)

No they can't kill off Lau's MOVELIST-!!!!

But if Lau's replaced with Lan Di (Shen Mue)... I'd have zero objections. Kicking ass Lau-style with "young handsome Lau"... not bad, not bad at all.
