I feel the same way. Even if it is a game it's what what you're doing stands for that matters. It's no different then shaking hands after a football game or bowing after a karate match. Let's give an example... Guy beats other guy in said karate match then hops around kicking the air with his feet and screaming "OMG I JUST WON, YOU SUCK, I'M A WINNER!" in real life that'd be considered incredibly disrespectful. I think it's been embedded into vf so much that people forget what it stood for in the first place. To me, it's making a statement... like "I TOTALLY JUST ROCKED YOU" so if it's done to me I usually do it back. Or, I think people think that doing it makes them more like the top players in japan (which do it a lot) and thinks it makes them that much more 'Leet' if they do.

P.S. funny thing is L.A. akira did the same when I first started playing him and it really got to me, so I wrote him a message saying. "you're an idiot" Well, anyways he told me he meant no disrespect and that it's just something he does.

i think people read things the way people want.

i dont do anything after the round since my gamer rep took a dive while playing japanese people.

but now i hate it when people stand still at the end of the match as if it was effortless. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif

Lol, I never knew that was considered disrespect, just something fun to do.(although I remember a dude getting punched in a SF tourny cuz he won with a throw lol, crazy) If it's done to me I get a smile on my face n say, ohhh ok it's like that? Then I just try a lil harder next round. I don't really understand how it could be disrespectfull, just a way of saying gotcha and delivering another blow or 2. Me personally sometimes i'll jump on someone either on purpose or just by reaction cuz I didn't know they'd be ko'd, practice some moves, or do an OM or DM to get their head by my feet n do a Akira ground punch n hit their head lol. I see it as all in fun n saying alright let's go. I never woulda thought ppl get mad over this/see it as disrespect and not like you for it. The way it's going anything could be considered disrespect either by standing over em not doing anything or practicing some moves and ppl seeing it as showing off or something..So sorry to anyone i've hit after they're ko'd for I did not know of this. And sorry for getting the ko hit with a move that makes you crumple, waiting for you to fall to your knees so I can do an Akira knee to the dome lol, I love doin that. But seriously sorry, I didn't know people would not like you over something this (dare I say) "silly"

True enough. I'll usually just stand there 'cause I want to get on with the next round. (Just sitting there mashing start.) I always figured that there'd be at least one person out there who took it as some kind of sign of disrespect though. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but most folks who play me know I do that. It's not because the match was effortless (not in my case). It's because I don't make it a point to dance around like a fool like some folks do. 'Sides, it's a waste of effort in my eyes if you do all that B.S. and don't even beat the guy in front of you. That being said, I've played too many damn matches to have much of a problem with anything anymore except the wireless and the occasional lag. Whatever, I'll let y'all handle y'all business.

Ive been doing the same thing since VF4, I practice just frame knee, AS3 or DLC. I use other characters too so any move I might have trouble with I'm gonna practice. Of course I usually back dash about six times first.

So I was wondering, am I an asshole? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Over the last few months, I've been called out (by several people) on my post-round actions online. Sometimes its just jumping around like a fool, sometimes its doing combos after winning with something like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, sometimes its light/heavy ground attacks, ect.

I've been wondering for a few weeks now; what is the proper post-round etiquette? I've heard that in Japan they consider a light ground attack on a KO'd opponent to be a showing of direspect. Do a lot of VF players feel this way? Is there a particular reason for it?

See, when I'm playing VF, I don't really mean any malice or hate towards my opponent. Its a game and if you beat me, its probably because you're better than me. I accept that fact fully. When I do post round shenanigans, I'm just messing around. I do it more to entertain myself rather than send a message to my opponent. But I've heard the term "greivers" (or something similar) used about other people, and I'm wondering if the whole "light ground is disrespectful" was made to apply to them, and not everyone.

So I'd like to get some community opinions about the subject. Was the concept of disrespectful actions invented by people who were trying to show disrespect, or was it interpreted by people who had lost as disrespect? What are your overall feelings about the subject? Is there any action you find disrespectful, either during or after a round?

For me, it stems back to my VF4 days when I was still learning the game. Back then, light ground'ing someone after a KO was a funny thing to do. We would joke about it. That got boring so we just started doing little jumps and funny actions, or seeing what kind of stupid combos we can get when the other player cant tech. I'm working on breaking that habit, but I do regress back to my old shenanigans when I'm not thinking about it. Just know that I don't mean any disrespect by anything I do in a game. If I want to start shit with anyone, I'll do it by PM or on the boards (but I really don't want to start shit, ever).

om, g-cancelling moves, character specific stances, etc. are good ways to kill time and satisfy your impulses without offending <s>black people</s> african americans.

but seriously, anyone who gets mad over a post-round ground attack isn't worth playing. it's your fault you lost; don't take your anger out on me because i have an itchy finger or two (or ten).

In real life I consider it cowardly and honorless to strike a defenseless foe. But its just a game so whatever floats your boat.

It's like all other things though, if you do it to someone else just don't get huffy when it's done to you. The golden rule ya know...

Ultimately if you don't like it the solution is simple, DON"T LOSE. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'm posting to say I'm definitely not the person to give an opinion on this, haha. People despise my post round - even mid round - antics. Though, with the same amount of people that hate my movements, I get people saying they laugh and enjoy the stuff too, just as much as I do doing and seeing. I'm a heel.

It's only very specific things that annoy me after a round.

I think I chewed Marly's ear off about it once.

Far to strange and twisted to mention again though.

theres nothing worse than a person whining cause....omg...you beat on his virtual fighter after the round. seriously....wtf...its not real!

so please folks, keep stomping after KO...if anything its good practice seeing how fast is your stomp. after KO celebration is meaningless FUN and helps loosen the fingers a bit.

code of honor in after Ko stomp doesnt apply here!

whats the big deal of this??

Can I request that African Americans be changed in quash's post.

What about someone of African descent who doesn't live in America?
