1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Good question. But this is one of those semi tough questions to answer.
Over the years, I've heard alot of varying opinions on this, from both VF fans and sega fans. Some say yes it is arcade perfect, others say no but the game is close enough to the arcade version.:D

doesn't the Saturn version of the game only run at 30fps? and isn't it considerably more ugly? i'm pretty sure the only good port of VF1 is from the new astro city mini

All SEGA Model 1 games run at 30fps but the sky textures scroll at 60fps.

  10. VF1 Sega Saturn not arcade perfect.
    I had it- it's a good port.
    VF2 on Saturn much better.

And there's 2 versions of VF1 on Saturn. 2nd one had better visuals.

If you want the authentic Japanese arcade experience outside of dreaming you were there Club Sega days then I recommend grabbing the Astro City Mini from SEGA. Pretty neat little mini system modelled off the legendary cabinets that flooded the Japanese arcade scene back in the day! Similar to the NEO GEO Mini arcade cabinet but filled with 37 SEGA games, mostly arcade ports of 2D SEGA titles that have been seen on compilations before, but the fact it comes with the arcade version of Virtua Fighter was a instant purchase for me personally (the only 3D game on there). Wish it had VF2, but perhaps that may make an appearance on an unannounced future Astro City Mini 2 cabinet. Compatible with Astro City peripherals like controllers and arcade sticks for multiplayer - they are rather costly but there is a way around it with a USB dongle adaptor you can buy from Amazon to use existing peripherals
