I miss the old Jackie C. The one who had one of the greatest fight scenes ever against Benny Jet in Wheels on Meals etc. I dream of the Jackie who would not be afraid of taking parts as a bad guy in a movie / doing something different for once and who would stop destroying his own legend. The current Jackie Chan is something I have no intrest of whatsoever.

exactly. the current jackie is kinda afraid to do his own stunts sometimes like If it involves sharp glass or blades. I saw an interview of when he began his carrer, where he stated that he loved all that crazy shit and that hed never stop doing it. maybe old age is starting to take its tole.I hope not.

I agree totally with you! I miss the old Jackie too! /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
But I believe that the "New Police Story" will remind us the old Jackie.(Shanghai Noons,afternoons-Rush Hours-Tuxedos were average in terms of action)

Additionally I have to report that Jackie is using doubles for a lot of his stunts/scenes!!!!! /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Anita Mui passes away at age 40

Got this from a friends blog

    From Kung Fu Cinema:
2003.12.29 - Four months after revealing that she had cervical cancer, Hong
Kong pop star and actress Anita Mui died early Tuesday morning due to
complications related to her condition. Friends and family, including
superstar Jackie Chan were on hand at the hospital where she had been
admitted after slipping into a coma.

In addition to a hugely successful singing career, Mui starred in nearly 50
films including nine martial arts-related titles. Close friends with Jackie
Chan, she delivered memorable acting performances in three of his best films
including Mr. Canton and Lady Rose (1989) (AKA Miracles), Drunken Master II
(1994), and Rumble in the Bronx (1995). She also played opposite Jet Li in
my Father is a Hero (1995). Arguably Mui's best action role was leading
Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Cheung in the superhero actioner The Heroic Trio
(1993). However, the supernatural drama Rouge (1987) is regarded as her best
screen performance in which she won Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film
    Awards.

Before she succumbed to illness, Mui was determined to fulfill her scheduled
appearance in Zhang Yimou's second martial arts film, tentatively titled
House of Flying Daggers. Anita Mui, who was unmarried, died at the age of
    40. She leaves behind many fans around the world who will mourn her passing.

I doubt we will see anything decent out of Jackie ever again. He fucked his body up for his craft so he cant move like he used to. Plus i dont like his style of movie as much as his old school stuff like drunken master or something by Sammo Hung.

You've got to be kidding, Drunken master was amazing. But I see your point of the style being a bit 'old'. Still the only movie with Jackie chan that im looking forward to is the unnamed project with Jackie chan and Jet li together. And what is "his craft" wreaking his body business? Never heard of it.

I think you misread Drunken_Master's response. He meant that he doesn't like the new ones as much as he liked the old ones.

    That's true!!
So from now on you will see more Jackie Chan doubles performing stunts and not him!!!! Maybe in few years he is going to retire (he is almost 50!! /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif)

Yes the New Line Cinema "Police Story 4:First Strike" version has a major cut of scenes (more than 20 min missing scenes!!! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif). So the New Line Cinema version is shitty. But the Hong Kong version is approx 105 min and it's much better!!!(The same goes for Rumble int the Bronx, Mr. Nice Guy, Gorgeous, Who am I. All of those are heavily cut!!!)

Jackie will make a good old kung fu teacher type character. Maybe in 10 or 15 years time he could play Sam Seed in a drunken master remake that would rock. I think he should change his roles to suporting. He will find a new star pass the torch to him, finace the movie he is in and play a suporting role in the movies. I supose maybe that will never happen as Jackies box office apeal is too strong, and will aways be in demand.

Thanks, good to know. Who does sell theh Hk versions, btw? Are they on DVD?

There are 3 companies in HK which sell Jackie DVDs->
Megastar, Universe & Laser , Deltamac. Megastar distributed once some films but Deltamac bought the rights for those films and re-released them.
They all produce all-region DVDs. Also there is one more company Hong Kong Legends(UK), which sells high quality products(Region 2).
