1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Hello!

I already posted in the Console thread but I think it is more appropriate to ask only Jacky related questions here. Since I have decided that Jacky will be my main character, I would like to ask some questions.

    1) What are Jacky's primary bread and butter moves?
    2) What's the main strategy when playing Jacky?
    3) Is he advicable in high-level competition or everybody knows him already?

Thanks in advance. I just recently purchased VF5 and I'm TOTALLY new to the series. Thanks!

I would recommend that you read this thread.

It should give you an idea of how to get started.

A lot of people would say that Jacky's elbow (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) and the strings that follow is his main strategy, mixing up between continuing the string, stopping and throwing, stopping and defending etc.

Other good moves are /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, which is a full circular mid level attack, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, which is a safe combo starter with lots of range, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, which is a 16 frame mid level move that can link to Side Slide, Back Slide, or add a canned mid level punch at the end which staggers.
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is also a very good move. It is a half circular low move which is safe and has a canned ender (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) to add in case of a counter hit, or use as a delayed hit. It is a particularly good move to use when trying to beat fuzzy guard.

Just try to make use of all of his moves for a while, and read the information in the link, and you'll start to pick up what is useful and what strategies to use. Jacky is definitely one of the easiest characters to learn how to use, and his flashy style prevents him from becoming boring.

As for your last question; yes, Jacky is good at high level.
