911 Operators are fucked up....... FUCK!:

Fucking U.S.A and their shitty laws, Florida's "stand your ground" law ROFLMAO!!

You'd think an armed and twice as big guy could defend himself from an unarmed kid without killing anyone. BUT NAH, he BlAcK yo, so "suspicious" and turns out he had some skittles. Racist bastard, and so are the cops. This is murder plain and simple but it's being pushed under the rug, absolutely unacceptable.

    Stay classy U.S.A!

Honestly this law is tight, the way it was abused, wasn't!

They should fry this asshole for abusing it and being a child killer. Even if this dude get's off he's probably gonna go into hiding after this. I can see him getting a lot of bricks thrown through his window, hopefully one hits him in the face and kills him.

The killer, Zimmerman, hasn't been charged yet from the looks of it. I heard about this a couple weeks ago, and I suppose it's been overshadowed by the murder spree that occurred in Afghanistan. I see the racialized double standard and brazen lack of justice there too -- part of the media was going into vague apologetics/damage control for what occurred this week. There's a good chance he won't even be facing jail time for the massacre, from what the AP says. My point is that racism, and especially the justice system's double standard now goes unspoken but continues to pervade American society. The demagoguery and manufactured outrage surrounding Obama's citizenship a couple years ago is case in point as well -- it's a coded message for persistent, divide-and-conquer racism and nothing more.

I read about the case the day after it happened and have been following it since. It's been fucked up from the get go. I just hope that Zimmerman faces a court of law to determine if he's innocent or guilty.

I've known about this case for almost two weeks and it has been on my mind heavily. I thought about posting about it on the Politics thread but I'm not the type to get too involved with such matters on this site. I never expected then it would've gotten this much attention.

Two days ago there was a Justice for Trayvon march at Union Square in NYC. I planned to go; I wore my hoodie over my head going to work to show support.

I'll admit that this looked odd because the weather was very warm, I had received a few stares. I noticed some kids on the train wore their hoodies up as well and we gave respectful nods.

I got to the rally and it was wonderful to see all types of people show up for the movement: male and female, young and old, black & white and all colors in between. A speaker was getting the crowd to chant "No justice. No peace" and "Stop {Stop And Frisk}"

It quieted down and Trayvon's parents walked about 8ft in front of me as they made their way to the podium. I could see the sorrow on his mother's eyes. They thanked everyone for coming. They noted that their son's killer should be arrested and hoped this wouldn't happen to any other family.

Before the march started everyone placed their hoods over their heads and shouted "I AM TRAYVON MARTIN". That was the highlight of the event for me.

I began to march and two blocks in a white girl in her tweens approached me from off the sidewalk. She wanted to know who this Trayvon person everyone was talking about. I explained to her as I walked and she said "That's terrible! I hope they catch this guy. Thank you." I was glad I was able to reach out to someone but then realized this movement has much more work to do to get this out to the public.

No dude., If you're talking about standing your grown in your house or on your on property yes, you should have the right to use deadly force if necessary.

But to generally give you the right to use deadly force no matter where you are if you feel threaten. That's bullshit and would lead to the fuckin wild wild west dude.

Imagine two ppl (both of different gender, or nationality, or race, or age) walking toward each other in Florida, as they get closer they both start to feel uncomfortable, as they get even closer both start to feel their life is in danger, So being the good Floridians they are, both have concealed weapons, and because they both feel threatened they both draw their weapons, one is faster than the other, the slowest person dies. Under this law they both were entitled to pull their weapons and use deadly force. Who ever is left standing doesn't even have to stand trial, because they felt their life was in jeopardy.

    C'mon maaan......

I think Zimmerman is very likely going to be found guilty. The only thing I don't like is I still feel like we don't have a clear picture of what really happened, we don't know the details of Zimmerman's statement and I would like to know exactly what he's claiming happened.

He is guilty in that he unlawfully pursued and assaulted Treyvon; that is clear. Still, we don't know enough about Zimmerman's exact story regarding the events leading up to the shooting. Zimmerman should pe arrested and interrogated immediately to determine if there is any truth to his side of the story. If not, charge him with murder.

Everything i needed to hear was in the 911 call.. fuck is you talking about? He stalked the kid then shot him Complaining about how "These @#$%^ always get away".. If you drew your hammer to anybody and they have no gun on them im quite sure you would have the upper hand to interrogate, intimidate and investigate. I want justice for what he done cause it could've been any of us(African Americans) point blank period.

^^^^This. Genburgs, I'm sure you're not biased or anything, but why not read the articles on the subject and listen to the 911 call recording before you post? Make use of that edit button my dude. In the 911 call, Zimmerman clearly said what his probable cause was. That Martin was "walking around and looks lost and supposedly suspicious". Even Fox News, as conservative as they are, aired parts of the 911 call and zeroed in on the part of the call when Zimmerman called the kid a "F---ing C--- "(its a racial slur, and no,it's not "cunt"). He told the officer on the phone that there were a series of break ins in the area. So naturally, he sees a black guy walking by, it must have been him right? Because all African Americans steal? Are you kidding me? The kid is guilty of the crime of walking while black.

The Martin family's lawyers are already talking to the federal government about making this a federal investigation of violation of civil rights. The Feds can help this racist sheriffs department do their job.

Uh... ever watch the news?! It's got to be the black guy!

Obama, that atheist, Muslim, fascist, socialist, and illegal immigrant wants to take our guns!!!!

It's obvious why they (the biggest proponents for zero gun control) want to keep them.

I don't buy that scenario. The court would have to determine whether a reasonable-minded person under that situation would be justified in feeling threatened. What you've described sounds pretty unusual, as I doubt that people would feel uncomfortable to the point of their lives being in danger without a very good reason.
