Kage Basics Update Part 2 - Counters

    Kage Counters
    ==============

    Checkout the moves list on VFDC for frames info. This will tell you what attacks will leave your opponent open for a counter attack. Here are Kage’s best counter attack moves:

    -8 frames = Throw
    Remember you can only throw if you are in range, some moves, even though they are -8 or more when guarded against, may push an opponent out of throw range. You can also low throw or high/low back throw depending on what move you have guarded.

    -12 frames = [P][P][4]+[P]
    Remember to hold F whilst pressing [P] to make sure your jabs reach your opponent. If you are close then go for more damage with [1]+[P][P][4]+[P]. Kage probably has the best damage -12 counter in the game.

    -13 frames:
    [4]+[P][K]: The helix-kick does a minimum 42pts of damage, however you are at a very slight disadvantage afterwards (-3). Also the move may not connect in some OS situations. Best to go for it when you are in CS and need to take max damage, for possible win etc, otherwise stick to [P][P][4]+[P].

    -14 frames:
    [6]+[P]: Mainly used against crouch defended moves for stagger.
    [2_][6]+[K]: The knee is a superb mC attack against crouch defended moves like low kicks or sweeps.
    [2_][3]+[P]: Against some characters you get a guaranteed counter combo. Some combos can even give more damage than the [2_][6]+[K]!

    -15 frames:
    [7]+[K]+[G]: Standard -15 counter, easy and damaging.
    [6][2][3]+[P][K]: More difficult counter because you must buffer in the [6][2][3] motion, but more damaging than the flip-kick.

    -16 frames:
    [3]+[K]: Mainly used against crouch defended moves for stagger.
    [2]+[K]+[G] / [6]+[P]+[K][P]+[K]: Both moves are effective if you are out of [7]+[K]+[G] or [6][2][3]+[P] range. Sometimes [2]+[K]+[G] can whiff in certain stances, so do [6]+[P]+[K][P]+[K] if you are unsure. [6]+[P]+[K][P]+[K] does slightly less damage than [2]+[K]+[G]

    -20 frames (Close):
    [6]+[K]+[G]: Takes between 20 and 26 frames to execute depending on distance from your opponent. Against some attacks it can prove to be your most damaging counter due to the possible combo follow-ups.

    -23 frames = [3]+[P]
    You'll rarely have the opportunity to use [3]+[P] as a mC attack, but if you get the chance do your most damaging float.

    -30 frames = [9]+[K]+[G]
    Once again you'll rarely get the chance to mC with an [9]+[K]+[G], but do big damage if you get the chance.


    Using the above info and the frame data from moves list you can work out your best counters. Here are some of the more damaging counters for each character:

    Just to clarify, Uk-guy, these are for Version B/C - correct? Not Evo.

    Just VerC to be safe.

    Most counters (apart from obvious ones like [2_][3]+[P]) should work in Evo because as far as I know only a few moves have altered mC frames.
