I am trying to pick up kage. But since I am not very dexterous can someone teach me some SIMPLE TFT combos for different weight class, ie what is the most damaging non-knee combo vs Akira? Currently I am using
1) d+p+k,p,g,b+p,f+k+g,d/f+k (ground attack)
or
2) d+p+k,b+p,k,b+p,k
both do 67 points vs Akira on the PS2. This there a more damaging combo?.

Check out the Kage FAQ at Virtuaproject. Pretty well written. Though it is ver B but I believe it still applies.

Hey, I like Kage. His TFT combos make him a strong character. He also has other nifty looking combos not using the TFT, but since you asked about TFT combos I will share with you some of mine.

TFT d+p+k, p, d+p+k, d+p+k, K my favorite, works against everyone

TFT, d+p+k, p, d+p+k, f, d, d/f+p, k works against everyone

TFT, u/f+k+d, f,d,d/f+p not too damaging but it looks cool, works against everyone

TFT, d+p+k, p, d+p+k, f,f+g+p+k My long distant ring-out combo. Does not work against heavy characters , Jeffrey, Wolf, Dural everyone else it applies to

These will just get you started. He also has nice graound combos starting with d/f+p, and also d,d/f+p. You can ask me about those combos when you're ready for them. Just send a PM or visit me at [Hydra] VF4 in Florida, what a wonderful thing! - Forums powered by UBBThreadsâ„¢

err...try these:

TFT - d+P+K - b+PK - (extra jab on some weight classes) - d+P+KK for damage
TFT - d+P+K - P - P - f,f+P+K+G for ringout
TFT - d+P+K - b+P - P - db+P - d+P+KK cool versus LW/LMW
TFT - d+P+K - b+K - TT PKG - f+K+G - DP another cool looker
TFT - d+P+K - P - db+PKG - f+K+G - DP looks good
TFT - d+P+K - FC, f+K - db+PKG - ub+K+G (thought I'd throw that one in to force you to learn how to crouch dash knee ;])

Here is a knee combo versus Lion and Sarah
TFT - FC, f+K - b+PK - d+K+G

peace

you think Inever try meh??

some things cannot be helped /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

To think that I can still play okay with people with more dexterous fingers... therefore I must have better Yomi than them!!! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

actually this is what I like about VF, there are some characters which do not require CD to use like Vanessa.

I saw the FAQ but there are SOOOOO many combos. Ithink you people should just put those with merit inside and not every single possible one..

These are the (IMHO) key combos for Kage: (the rest are more for show but don't optimize damage or RO potential)

Max damage TFT combos:

TFT ~ Knee ~ d+P+K ~ swipe senbon ~ kickflip (up to Akira)
TFT ~ Knee ~ P ~ swipe senbon ~ f+K+G ~ DP (up to Akira(?))
TFT ~ Knee ~ P ~ swipePhelixK (heavyweights)

I'm still waiting for my PS2 VF4 stick, so I can't say for sure which of the above is the max damage combo... probably the middle one.

RO TFT combos:

TFT ~ d+P+K ~ b+PK ~ (P) ~ d+P+KK (esp. over low walls)
TFT ~ d+P+K ~ b+P ~ P ~ ff+P+K+G

Not sure which covers more distance...

df+P combos:

df+P ~ P ~ d+P+K ~ DP (up to Jacky? Akira?)
df+P ~ P ~ d+P+KK (heavies)
__________________________________

D,df+P combos:

D,df+P ~ P ~ d+P+KK (LW, MC vs MW(?))
D,df+P ~ PPK (HW)

Jumonji combos: (ver.C)

JM P+K (KD) ~ kickflip
JM K+G ~ PKK (note: last K may miss vs HWs that TR)
JM P+K+G (sidekick reversal) ~ f,f ~ P+K (KD) ~ kickflip (my favorite... does 103 points of damage!)

I think this one covers more distance. In one of the daioh clips (Kage vs. Aoi, Shun, Akira), Kage starts the sequence about a step away from the spot where he starts the round.
