why no literature mention about it ... it's a different kind of mod. move from those from crouch mod. move where CD put the characters in a crouch position which is equivalent to the "D" part of the move ...

    CD+f+p ...

Actually, ages ago a modified DP was discussed. In the Act 2 Gamest for VF3, they had TFT, Knee, P(G), DP listed as an easy, 1 star, combo. Forever, myself and other Kage's tried this combo with no success. Eventually, Kbcat discovered that if you delay the dragon punch motion with f,d,DF+P Kage would crouch dash a bit before doing the DP. This was the only way to complete the Gamest combo. For the longest time we thought the combo was not possible and we felt that Gamest had assumed the combo existed since TFT, Knee, P(G), Kickflip did without actually testing it out (this wouldn't be under them). ;)

I've never tested the motions you describe in your post, Dickson. I'd be pretty surprised to see a DP come out of it as well. Do you mean that Kage's can use df,DF,f+P for a dragon punch?? hmm. This is something i'll have to test out today in the arcade. I would think that this would give a CD, elbow and no DP at all.

    Cheers,

you've to input f+p before kage really crouch dash on the screen but the joystick motion is CD+f+p ... i think some of the TFT, multiple DP combos put here some time ago can only achieved by this ...

i bring this out is because some threads below are talking about complete and important move lists where i find kage's mod. DP, which is a special move, has never been documented formally in any form ...

    Re: Akira's modified Yoho?

Back in the day when we used to have TB in the arcades, I recall doing some sort of modified Yoho (df,df+P) with Akira. You'd see a crouch dash immediately followed by the Yoho. The range on that piece had to be seen to be believed -- think range of CD + range of Yoho!

Now, I only wish I can remember exactly how I was doing it ;) (this was like 2 years ago!) but it may be related to Kage's m-DP that Dickson mentioned, or was it simply a case of delaying the 2nd DF in the CD and then pressing P?

    Re: Akira's modified Yoho?

I think that refers more to dash buffering than a mod'ed move. The DP is mod'ed because you don't entered the regular input to get it to come out. The yoho example you gave is a buffering move.

The same can be done with any straight d/f,d/f move. Namely I see it from Rodney with a CD, Splash Mountain. There is a point in the buffering where the CD (if done by d/f,D/F) will also satisfy moves like the Yoho. You generally have to tap the apporpriate buttons within about 3 frames of the CD starting and Viola! You get Jeffry doing Splash Mountain like a TKoD teleport. You'll see the first couple frames of the dash, then they teleport forward to the end of the dash and throw out the keyed in move.

However, I did not know about Kage's modified DP.

CD, XPD - very old, very useful VF2 Jeff tactic. Very deadly.

Now, I'm not sure how dickson is getting this DP to come out. I was trying it today in the arcade with no success. Dickson, what motions exactly do you use for the CD?

    Cheers,

    Re: kage's mod. DP

in hong kong, most of us know of such a kage mod. DP: d/f,d/f,f+p ... it seems that we don't have to return the joystick to neutral and you have to complete the transit from the last d/f to f+p super fast without any delay like you're doing the 3-part SPoD or DLC ... i think the difficulty of the mod. DP is you have to control your joystick within the 2nd quardrant in moving it to the "f" position ... see if Jo Shun has any comment on it ...

i can lend credibility to dicksons post, O. CD-f+P works very nicely...don't think of it in strict df,DF,f+P terms. basically...do the motion as you would a TFT knee: just substitute the P over the K.

nice long CD straight into the DP. nifty.

Llanfair, actually it's very possible to get that combo without a CD-DP, but with one modification. Instead of P(G), you'd need a PK(G) instead. Also, a slightly late knee would help (i.e. this is a combo for the times when you miss a perfect knee).

If you do have a perfect knee, you may consider TFT -> knee -> P(G) -> PK(G) -> DP

This doesn't take that much damage, but is deceptively difficult.

I don't understand. I thought the the TFT knee move IS df,DF,f+K. So if I did the motion as I would a TFT knee, I would do df,DF,f+P, which you're saying is not the right input. So what is the "right" input then?

I think this control issue is really dependent on the player. Every time I do d/f,D/F,f+P, for example, I keep on getting a standing punch, and the feeling for that is definitely different than if I'm trying to pull of a CD and then immediately elbow.

However, and this is especially so on the Dreamcast version, I've found myself accidentally DPing from a CD when I actually mean to elbow--much moreso than the arcade. I attribute this to the DC controller more than anything.

I haven't been able to get this modified CD dragon punch to work. Maybe I don't understand how to input the commands. Anybody able to offer any help with this?

    Re: Akira's modified Yoho?

Do a crouch dash by using the dragon punch motion (d/f, roll to d, roll to d/f)
hold the stick in d/f position and hit the punch botton after a short delay.
What you should get is a crouch dash followed by a DP (from crouch). I you wait
to long before hitting the punch button you will get Kage's weird chop (d/f
from crouch). Sometimes with Kage, I get a DP when I try to do a crouch dash
low punch. That's until I discovered it is possible to tap p+k or p+e to make
sure a low punch will come out. Bye.

P.S: Excuse me for my bad english...
