Just released today! 2 discs = 4 hours of pure tournament footage. If you've seen the streamed movie that Sega had available online, you probably missed many of the matches that weren't featured. Thankfully, this DVD set has ALL the tournament matches on it, plus after-bout commentary by the players! The presentation is incredibly smooth and slick as well, with very nicely done and animated menus, a tournament chart that lets you select individual matches to watch, and a well-edited video program.
My sole disappointment is that a lot of the fun little bits of the show aren't on the DVD - things like the introduction of all the competitors, the "LEGENDARY WARRIORS" playing the special edition VF4E, and the Korean player exhibition matches. These things made the event a lot of fun, and I am sad that I can't see them again on the discs. They would have made better bonus features than what is on there, I think. Then again, they might be on there, and I have just missed them somehow. I haven't watched the discs completely from beginning to end, yet...

To SHU and all the Enterbrain DVD staff: great job on this disc, and I look forward to more like it in the future! I'd love to see a DVD of the recent character title matches, myself...

Are the matches presented like in the GreenBook DVD, where we can actually see the players before and after each round? That would be sweet if applicable /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Just received it in the mail.

Looking beyond the tense, ass-squeezing matches themselves---

I was a little disappointed... just because I feel they should have kept the commentary during all the matches, instead of just the last couple matches. Also, the extra matches are NOT in, such as those with Kyasao/POS/SHINZ... the classic VF1 match ups... the commentary by BUNBUN and Kyasao... that kind of side stuff you rarely see, including the backstage shenanegans. I can SEE you burning up... so I 'll just say it- It's what I would have done, but who am I to say how it should be done.

The disks includes extras of some other matches that took place PRE Kakutou shinseki II on the first disk, the second one included the 2 opening attract movies that play during the game *yawn*.

Ohter than that, the DVD is great. It's formatted like the Green Book DVD, video capture and quality is good, and no 5.1 surround support.

On a more positive note, there are some backstage commentary that was impossible to show during the live feed, AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, the matches that was ongoing that was not aired during the live feed. But you could have downloaded it from am.sega if you don't mind the lower resolution (though the later matches... such as the Heruru/Minami matches weren't released; but then again, Gpara did)...

But, this DVD does represent it's purpose well, TO WATCH MATCHES IN FULL 720X480 RES.

BTW, the DVDs are Region 2, so N/A DVD players will not play them. There are programs that will let you play Region 2 discs on drives that are already locked to region other than 2, and play it on the computer. Or you can download and reflash your DVD drive.

BUT, luckily, the discs are SINGLE LAYER., so if you have a dvd burner, use DVDDecrypter to create an image of the DVD, and make a backup copy *wink, wink*. DVDDecrypter makes 1:1 copies of Single layered (4 GB) discs, including the menus, extras, etc. Again, 1:1 copies. Best of all, DVDDecrypter is FREE, and when backups are made, it loses region settings, and you can play them on any DVD player.

I guess it's my luck that I missed the post-man the day before yesterday (and they didn't leave it at the leasing office like always, because It had to be signed by me), went to pick it up yesterday to find it's with the carrier again for another try (missed it of course) and went today and found the station closed for an hour and half!! Alas, I will go back again today and get it from the clutches of evil.... Ahem..

It's kinda dissappointing that some of this stuff is missing, but I guess I will wait and see /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

A gorgeous DVD /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif!! Like Zero and Catch reported, the presentation is very, very well done. If you choose to watch the feature from the begining (rather than selecting matches from the beautiful tournament chart), it will start with a small flash-back of the Version C Japan National Tourny that Napoleon won (against Segaru at the end). Sweet /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Similar to the Greenbook DVD, you get to see small video-boxes of the players while on the character select screen. A small difference is that the GB DVD let us see both players after each round, while in KS2 you only see the winner of the round after each round (How is that for being picky? /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

Not having commentary did make a small difference though (like Catch mentioned). It kinda made the matches sound more 'quiet' than in GB DVD or even the Beat Tribe tapes; it would have been more fun to hear commentary and especially the croud /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

There seems to be a sort of collection of matches called "The Record of Name Players" in Disk 1 which I've seen the first match of featuring Segaru. Are those the pre-KS2 matches? Also a nice addition /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    A nice DVD overall /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Some DVD-import shops should get this wonderful item. Either you fly to Japan or you ask several Shops; i think there is a chance.

    But what about the price???
