Really good action movie. Loved the break in between the movie where it went anime. Go Go rocked as an antagonist.

Hattori Hanzo wasn't really in it. He was a sword maker in the movie, but i'm guessing the name was stolen from the famous japanese ninja, not the SNK character. And i can't remember a Goro in it, there was a Gogo tho, the girl with that awesome ball and chain.
The movie was incredibly, i'm going to see it for the third time on monday

Yeah, Hattori Hanzo is a famous ninja and definitely not affiliated with anything from SNK.

Saw the movie last night, it was pretty kick ass. I thought the Japanese dialogue (from the non-Japanese actors) left a little to be desired at times, but overall was OK. The anime scene was a nice treat.

Anyone else think Uma would make a great Sarah Bryant? Her duel with O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Lui) sooo reminded me of Sarah vs Aoi in the snow stage /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The scene with Vernita Green's (Vivica A. Fox) shooting at Uma from close range and missing had a whole Pulp Fiction feel to it, although she didn't spend the rest of the movie attributing it as an act of God /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif I hope the whole issue with the bride being seemingly invincible is addressed in Vol.2 though.

One thing which is kinda nagging at me: why did they bleep out her name?

This movie is fucked up. Pointless plot and violence topped with lame humor. A pathetic attempt at bring Japanese Anime into life. If these people are so expert at killing, how the heck did she miss the shot 5 feet away?

LOL, what was so pointless about the plot? I thought the plot was quite straightforward: Bride gets killed off (or so they thought) by her own assasination squad, goes into a coma for four years, wakes up and seeks revenge. It's not exactly ground breaking, but so what?

I mean you can complain about the plot all you want, or ask how did she miss a shot that was so close, or why are they allowed to carry swords on a commercial airline, but I think you're missing the bigger picture. The movie, much like a lot of Tarantino's films, is all about style. Don't take it so seriously. I mean, if you weren't laughing during some of the fight scenes then I think you wasted your money. Shit, the movie started with a Klingon quote!

Remember, the hardest part is wiggling your big toe /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Although i havent seen the movie yet (im prob gonna buy it from my friend in a few weeks, he has it on DVD with a "Property of Mirimax" (sp?) watermark on it). I hear the movie changes styles quite frequently, almost like Tarantino didnt know what style he was trying to achive, aswell as ripping off an anime called "Perfect Blue" Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Im kinda curious and dont wanna waist my $20 if such things are true.

Haven't seen it yet but heard a good interview on the radio with Tarantino. Basically he's taken lots of genres - samurai, kung fu, anime, revenge films etc. and thrown them all together to make one big fat action film. I wouldn't look at it as a movie with a mingblowing plot or journey - it's just old school ass kicking. Tarantino described it as being not his best film to date, but if he could make his ultimate fanboy action movie then Kill Bill would be it. Sounds good to me.

    Great movie.

However, I did hear from some of my japanese friends that the non native Japanese speakers spoke Japanese with a crippling accent that made them sound laughable! I'm a gaijin so I can't tell.

However, the movie had a lot of style, it was a joy to watch. All the action sequences were void of computer effects as well, which is quite a feat. Go see it.

heh heh, I saw the film again with Kazu and Kyasao on Wed. They said Lucy Liu's Japanese was terrible and they couldn't understand some of it.

one question, was this done on purpose or is it really a mess up in the film. Look when Vivica A. Foxshoots at Uma Thurman when you first see it she shoots to the left of the door to the right of uma thurman(from Vivica's PoV) but then when it flashes back to lookin at Uma after she throws the knife the bullet hole is on the left of her from vivica's PoV. anyone else catch that?

I really enjoyed it, and I'm not a big Quentin Tarantino fan. I think the obviously comic-book style of this movie is exactly the style Quentin should stick with, as it allows him to vent his need for OTT violence without particularly disturbing his audience.

Also thought the music was fantastic...lots of spagetti western influence.

My only gripe was with the length of some of the later fight sequences. The Tokyo restaurant scene just dragged on for too long, and dulled the climax with Lucy Lu somewhat.

Overall, great stuff.....will be looking out for part two.

I love Kill Bill - it's already one of my favourite films. It's so stylish and it never slows down, you dont have to sit through an hour of stupid dialogue b4 you get to da kick-off *it's just kick-off into kick-off into a heavy little scene into more kick-off which sets up the next bit of KICKOFF!!111one*
Why do you need a complex plot? Same way as some of the best anime I have ever seen Kill Bill keeps everything direct and in your face. The pregnant Bride gets fucked over by her own squad and left for dead, wakes up 4 years later VEX and looking to revenge - the revenge she takes is beautiful - I dont see what the issue is with some people, maybe you should try letting go of reality and have a good time (reality is fucking dire)

Uma Thurman p\/\/|\|$ me in this film, I'm hers - no problem being her bitch, she can use me like the cheap trash I am. Gogo on the other hand is ALL MINE - DONT TRY IT, I claimed her in Battle Royale and she's even more tings in Kill Bill!!!! /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

LEAVE IT - It's all me up in that!

Goro Daimon IS in the film - if you didnt spot where you're not an Agent of this system and need to Level-Up.

saw the film loved it and especially the soundtrack. I loved the music whenever she saw the assasins that attempted to kill her, also when lucy lui and co enter the bar the music was so great. Reminds me alot of the music in those olf HK martial arts films i use to watch when I was lil.

Does anyone agree the fight with lucy lui was so lame, though the main fight sequence did drag on but i quite like ti especially the school girl and her ball and chain, she rocks. I was expecting somthing brilliant when uma met lucy, seeing that unlike most actors in martial arts films. Lucy actually knows how to fight but it was over to soon and i would think lucy would put up a better fight seeing shes meant to be a top assasin and all. Even the first fight against vivicia was better.

overall a great movie but let down by a tenseless end fight which was over to soon but i cant wait for vol 2 and the daryll hannah fight. Apparently thats the highlight of the secound part according to QT(cant spell his name)
