Downloaded the demo for this off the euro psn store. I wasn't expecting much, especially because most FPS these days make me sick to my stomach. . .

Overhyped or not, this really is the best looking console game to date. I was also able to play through the demo like 5 times without a hint of nausea; maybe because the FOV is different or the focus on cover rather than run n gun. Might actually end up buying it once it comes out.

yeah I been waiting for this. I was giving a code to download this when the demo drops on US territory by a gamestop clerk. I don't have a euro account, but I definitely want to check this out. I'm not a big FPS fan, but I'm trying to at least dabble in some of them(story mode wise).

I love how hyped this game is, everyone seems to think it could be the best thing evah. Quite funny that the same happened with the first one but it was so lame no one can even remember it now.

Not really KOD. Its still does not look better than gears 2. The death animations are cool though.Graphically this game is not that far better looking than COD4.The Textures are suspect though.I still want to play the campaign.

Completely agree with you KoD. As far as FPS games go, this one is quite interesting with the whole run for cover gampelay and good enemy AI.
I don't care much for story, as it just seems the producers thought: "Hey, let's continue the story we had in the first game. Some ppl might have actually cared about that. Make it a really background thing though, we don't want it to get in the way of all the shooting."

Still, that's the best looking game I've seen so far... except that in some areas, the textures on the walls or objects seem bad compared to the models, weapons, etc.

It's like HAZE all over again but people actually care with this one, seriously did any of you play the first Killzone?

Yeah, I did, got bored of it. Tried with Black on PS2, got bored of it as well. Both of them were hyped as AWESOME PLAYSTATION FPS KILLERS but ended up sucking.
Seriously, when I had Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. by the time I was trying out those games ( I was a "bit" late with them), they just simply couldn't surprise me with anything.

Like I said, I'm not a big fan of FPS, and wasn't really expecting to be impressed by this game.

I was at the first public NA exhibition of gears 2 along with some other VFDCers; it didn't really wow me. It's a good looking game, but its basically UE3 shiny-too-much-normal-mapping-plastic-everything with noticeable framerate issues; been there done that.

However, KZ2 seems to be fully locked 30fps. I didn't see any screen tearing or framerate drops (which may also contribute to why I can actually play it without puking). The only things that were shiny were stuff like the revolver. I usually hate motion blur and depth of field effects in games (I really didn't like uncharted, for instance), but the way those effects are handled in KZ2 is outstanding; along with the lighting, they pretty much make the game.

Yeah, the geometry in KZ2 isn't impossibly high-poly, there aren't ridiculously detailed textures everywhere, and they're using decals for a lot of stuff. It doesn't matter, because the way the game _looks_ in motion is incredibly cinematic. Put it this way, gears always looked like an xbox 1.5 game to me, same graphical tricks with more horsepower; this actually looks like it's from a different generation.

    Get the Fuck outta here.

Whats really sad is The Majority of PS owners hated on Halo and plenty other FPS games the Xbox 360 so called survived off of.Now Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 are the biggest selling games on a Console that neglected FPS.SMDH!!!!!

This game will die down like MGS4 did.

Let's hope so, I love when games die down by selling millions of copies and being one of the best gaming experiences this generation.

Let's just not change it into a console war please.
Honestly, the game is good, but I would have no regret if I just rented it to "play a bit". I still have to check if the Multiplayer is good, 'cause if it is, I might actually buy it.
I liked Halo, didn't really like Resistance(s), and again, I'm probably gonna like KZ2 (though KZ1 was boooooring).
I'm in the same place as KoD, I just can't get as hyped as others over an FPS game....

Uhhhh. No. These generic FPS games are a dime a dozen, except when it's left 4 dead on PC, then it's different. And what's this hype about the graphics? Seriously, the hype machine has convinced everyone to believe this game looks like that infamous pre-rendered E3 trailer, when it clearly does not. Even IGN's reviewer ballyhooed about it, which, imo, can be viewed as blatant lying. I agree w. Overfiend that Gears 2 has better graphs, but more than that, I CANNOT understand how this graph-discussion revolves around the inferior processing power of consoles. Play left 4 dead on the PC w. 1650x1050 resolution and tell me that's not the best thing u've ever seen in motion.

Game of the year this year? Hard to tell, but if it's an FPS, I hope it's something more original like Colonial Marines (plz, plz, plz, let it be good and not a rush job 3d Sonic).

    hahahaha...ha... are you serious?
Gameplay wise left 4 dead may be incredible (though not my cup of tea since I really dislike zombies) but Graphic wise it doesn't hold a candle to GoW or killzone 2

And yes, I played it at 1650x1050 and I can tell you: It's not the best thing i've seen in motion.

Damn right I am. Spoon, there are different levels of graphical prowess. If you compare Gears 2 low res jagged-edge graphics (no antialiasing, dude, come on!!) (in close quarters) w. left 4 dead's high level of detail (everything from dog chow bags to toilets has been made w. incredible precision), then you'll see what I'm talking about. You're being blinded by shiny textural effects which are abound in both Gears & Killzone. Polygonwise these games offer very little.

I knew people would comment on this. I'm not saying Gears & Kzone look bad, I'm just saying they don't look as phenomenal in motion as, imo, l4d does. When you compare graphical properties you have to take into account several things, and the lack of e.g. simple anti-aliasing in console games is a big whoop. In l4d's case we can point to things like lighting (check out that flash light compared to Gears' less impressive lighting effects).

Just to name a few. I'm not going on w. this discussion, however. I come from an extensive PC fps & level design background, so I have certain reservations with regard to how "cool" console games look. They look good, no question, but the PC will always beat them down due to hardware restrictions inherent to consoles.

nah, Shinobi is right. Gotta love those struggling consoles, biggest pile of shit is like gold for the people silly enough to still care.
