Film of the year so far for me. That chain smoking lady scene running after that dude was LMAO funny. Is Shaolin soccer better? I've not seen that yet!

Well from the trailer, some scenes look like parts from shaolin soccer and I found out it's made by the same ppl. You gotta see Shaolin Soccer, it's so cool.

Has American cinema become so Stale that you guys are actually Raving about this crap ass of a movie? I'd never could stomach Cantonese comedy for more than a few minutes.

It's all personaly choice. If you don't like it, why even bother attempting to watch it then. Guess u don't like too many of Jackie Chan films then. Martial arts with comedy thrown in. Doesn't hurt to make someone laugh then kick their ass.

I think for most Asian people, this is movie is a very typical Stephen Chow effort. Similar to the amount of people who think Star Wars Eps. 1 and 2 was crap but are still reserving tickets to see Eps 3, most Asians watch this movie simply for the name and hype along to see what it's all about.

The movie does have some original ideas and effects though, so that a plus I guess in my view.

Rage, you can't compare Jackie Chan to Stephen Chow in my opinion. Jackie's films were much more original & creative back in the day w/ his more recent ones just using the same formula to death. As for Stephen Chow's he did have one good one though I'd forgot it's name though so I'm not complete turned off. I just feel w/ stephen's film he's just seems like an idiot than anything else. So whatever:p

I just saw this film today from a special sneak screening.

    It was ....... SPLENDIFEROUS! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have to see Shaolin Soccer and see how it matches up. This film blew me away like the Lion's Roar. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Catherine and I just got back from seeing this movie.

    OMFG!

I was absolutely floored at how much I liked this movie. Catherine mentioned she wasn't sure about where it was going to go after starting with the Axe Gang dance number. But we swear the film just kept getting better.

I haven't seen too many comedy-type films where I actually CARE about the people in them.

    Really, really, liked it.

I've seen Shaolin Soccer and it was insane and weird. And since I found out that Kung Fu Hustle is made by the same people who made SC, I'm guessing that it's going to be crazy like SC. But I'm still anxious to see the differences and similarities when I see Kung Fu Hustle.

I've seen Shaolin Soccer, God of Cookery, and Kung Fu Hustle. Kung Fu Hustle is entertaining but it feels like America's Army (similar to other S. Chow films, we all should join the army and learn Kung Fu BTW). All of his films have a much different feel than American cinema for sure but this film seemed lacking to me.

    Kung Fu Hustle was awsome.

It may be stale to the asian market who have seen alot of his work, and I'm guessing alot of work like it, If you havent noticed, most of us are in North America where this is different and new. So it gets bonus points /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
