You look at the online ranking ladders in Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown and majority of the top ranking players are from Japan. For those of us who do not follow the Japan VF scene, those names might lack any meaning to you. On twitter, Hima Jean started a series to introduce the people behind those names.

Hima Jean is a strong Jean player that, as of writing this today, is ranked #1 on the North America VF5US online game rankings. He is originally from Japan and is currently residing in Canada. Those that have been watching recent Japanese VF streams will recognize the veteran Kumichou who have been commentating for many different events.

Homestay Akira (AK)

A top AK player who has been playing since the VF2 era. With his keen reading, accurate selection, and playing style that draws out the destructive power of AKs, his opponents are always under a lot of pressure.

There are very few players who have been winning for as long as he has, and he is highly regarded for his gentlemanly and courteous approach to his viewers in his regular streams, and he has a large fan base.

He is undoubtedly one of the key players in the VF scene and is an indispensable presence. Don't miss his further progress in the future.

Jin (KA)

He has been a champion in each of the major tournament titles in the Japanese Virtua scene in the past. Kagemaru is one of the most popular characters in the game, and his control of Kagemaru is unique and original, with a policy of applying almost all of Kagemaru's techniques to actual combat. In particular, his technique of using walls to toss his opponent around in all directions is a must-see!

He has been a key player in bringing arcade players and home players closer together through distribution, and is also active in planning and participating in online VF events!

Shiwapon (PA)

He has emerged since VF5FS as one of the top players in the game, and is now firmly established as one of the best.

In particular, his outstanding and solid defensive skills are unparalleled. Precise attacks that he launches from his iron defense often force his opponents into a corner.

He often leads the team in team tournaments, and is good in the clutch. He won the EVO JAPAN VF5FS division in Japan in 2020.
