Ash is in the US for another 5 week, methinks. I should be able to attend though, birmingham isn't too far away...

Where can I get info about the time I should be there? Should i phone the venue?

EDIT: I just read through the link in the OP's signature and i'm a little confused about a few things. It says you must take your own controller, I take it this means i'm fine to take a stick?

Also, it says this in the rules...

    * Configure Joypad/Joystick
o Set-Up button before match starts.
    o No button Binding Allowed.
o If START/PAUSE is pressed during game that round is forfeited by player.

What does No buton binding mean? Am I fine to set the stick to A = G, B = P and X = K and all the others to unused?

No button binding means insta-gay for people like me who play using a Joypad.

I cannot use my left trigger for P+K+G or my right trigger for K+G.

So I likely won't turn up.

Anyway know how this went yesterday? How many turned up for the VF5 tournament, who won and what did they win?

    I couldn't make it /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

no mapping rules for fighting games is probably the stupidest rule ever made

If you're using a stick, you shouldn't need mapping, however if you're using a pad, you're somewhat up a certain creek without a certain instrument. As long as they allowed button layout changes then it would be somewhat acceptable, as the EX2's default layout is horrendous.

And yes, I'm still in the US and won't be back into the UK until August 6th, which means getting back to Rotherham on the 7th (after spending the day in a hotel sleeping in an attempt to get the day I lose back), and then if I'm still jet lagged and/or crazy, I may head to the MPlay festival to try for the WCG qualifiers.

I'm managing to miss pretty much everything with this trip.

fighting games should be played on stick, unless its like smash bros or something.

you can get unfair andvantages with button binding, like breaking throws with one button and stuff. besides if you ever wanted to play vf in the arcade youll be stuck with pad hands lol.

anyone know the VF5 results for this tourney?

I play pad and the only button binds I use are PKG and KG because they are annoying as hell to do any other way.

From the main site, it said that the top three were:

    1. Iron Mike
    2. Stephen
    3. Ricochet

Also, why is it that only Tekken had a "legend" winner whereas the other three tournaments were just won normally?

Stephen being me, by the way.

Congratulations on second place to you. Higher than where I would have placed.

There were only four of us, and it seems Iron Mike is the only one that's played the game for a decent amount of time.

I think the match vids will be up on http://www.vsfighting.com at somepoint.

Erm lol? I would not consider this a problem. If a person cant press 3 buttons at same time on a stick, he basically sucks, thats all I can say.

This is very much true, but it is beside the point why ban multiple bindings. Macros obviously, but not multiple bindings.

Mike has played the game since VF4/4Evo.

So in the current swarm of players, that makes him a true veteran LMAO
