The video is really interesting but i have to say ._. why everyone who makes a video has to talk so low? I had to turn so high my speakers because i cannot hear the voice o_O. But the music was really high.

Awesome intro. If that is just the intro I can't wait to see the first real training video. I like the unique format you used for the vid as well you should use it for the actual video.

Fricken awesome, apart from the fact you sounded like a tired, old man narrating but I liked this. I found it amusing and enticing, I wanted to hear more of what you had to say.

Nice work man, but with an intro that long and elaborate I think you've set yourself a pretty high benchmark for the actual content! Good luck [IMG]

For new starters to VF, Lei is unquestionably a monster. I remember when he was first introduced in VF4 just how much troubles and nightmares he gave me. It was a long and hard journey up a steep learning curve just to be able to hang with him. If you freeze up when he enters stance, he'll own you every time. If you aren't good at struggling, then Doku [2][K] + big combo will own you every time. If you react without consideration once you think you have a chance to hit him out of a stance, his sabakis will own you every time. These three things alone are massive hurdles for beginners to overcome. And overcome them they must, or they will lose badly to a capable Lei every time.

It's very similar to a new Street Fighter player, having trouble against the basic Fireball and Dragon Punch keep-out game. If you want to close in on the opponent, you obviously need to overcome that fireball. At first, your reaction speed isn't fast enough to allow you to jump early and you end up eating DPs all day. But after some time and lots of practice/experience, you begin to jump earlier allowing you to either combo or at least have the advantage over the fireballing opponent. And further down the track, when you're starting to get pretty good, you anticipate the fireball more consistently and really start to lay down the hurt against what you use to consider such a BS tactic.

So in general terms, you need to have a good (enough) reaction speed, along with (hit) checking skills to be able to react the right way, in any given moment.

Here's a tidbit I'll throw out to stop a predictable Lei from [P][P][P] all the time. After the second [P] perform a successful DM (since you're disadvantaged) then hit [P][+][K][+][G] to cancel it into an OM, then hit [K] for a side counter hit crumple. Combo accordingly. Note that smart Lei's will pick up on this and not finish the series, but instead punish you out of the evade. So it's all about keeping him honest.

Again, good luck with your project, and BTW, Lei is pronounced as "lay" and not "lee" [IMG]

Very nice vid. I specially liked the Alfred Hitchcock style narration [IMG]
Looking forward to more. Please, don't let the haters, naysayers or people who think that you don't have the skill level to make informative vids stop you.

Who the hell are they? Are they better players than you? If so, why aren't they making vids and helping others understand and play the game better? The work that you have already put in is already more than most haters have done to help the community the whole entire time they have been here so screw them and do you [IMG]

    P.S.
Both you and Smb have skills. Now that I have stepped my game up a bit I can see clearer that it takes yomi and quick reaction time to do a lot of the things that you do. If your yomi and reaction time is well above average online, than it should be even better offline. I look forward to at least one you guys showing up to a gathering and proving that you're able to adapt and overcome not just online but offline too. There's a chance that this may not be the case but I believe that you guys got a lot more skills than any of us have given you credit for anyway.

    P.P.S.
Before someone points out "doih, aren't u the guy that said..." Yes, and I have changed my mind and how I see the game.
I see the game differently than I did before, therefore I think differently than I did before.

That was an insightful and helpful post about Lei, Myke. Thanks!

Now, I got a Lei question about this particular scenario:
When Lei doesn't finish his PPP series and only does PP then cancels out of that stance (at a speed that is the envy of all other characters with stances) and then goes for a throw, what are some good ways to deal with that?

I mean, I know yomi has a lot to do with how I react but online that tactic becomes harder to deal with due to 0frame throw. What sucks is that it's a tougher nitaku situation than usual because all of my fastest responses can be sabaki'd by Lei including 1P. If I go for slower moves to attack out of that particular nitaku I get staggered for half my life (I know, I need to work on my stagger recovery too >_<)

I've already heard that ETEG is the best way to deal with this but I'm not very good at ETEG yet >_<. I've had to resort to taking advantage of the lag and doing DMP+K but I know that offline I get thrown out of DMP+K.

So, any other tips other than ETEG?
Edit: This question is for everybody not just Myke [IMG]

Hey bro, strike while the iron's hot.

While you are away from the online for this week, i hope you have started putting together the 1st vid in your Monkumentary, everyone is excited to see it.

    I have but two requests:

#1) Hurry up and make the vids [IMG]
#2) Don't sacrifice the quality to fulfill #1. Take the time to make them as good as the intro. We will begrudgingly wait a little extra to have a better product to consume when you "bring it to market" for public consumption on VFDC.
