    Tricky:
If you're ever caught in a moment of spare time with nothing to do you could read back some of the old threads. You need a bucket of salt to get through them, but they're really funny in retrospect, at least, I thought so when I did a year back. But then I'm an outsider to the whole thing. In the end trying to have any form of discussion and getting his brand of reply is quite unnerving.

I went to go check out his blog and granted I did laugh a lot, and he really does know what he's talking about. I just lose respect for someone who uses the internet as an excuse to be a total dooshe just because we can't all find where he lives and beat the crap out of him . . . i mean talk to him.

Check out the comments on some of his posts.
From his homosexual fans to GodEater getting called CockEater, lol, some funny stuff.
It's online entertainment and Shang is an entertaining guy.

Shang reminds me of Eminem and how people take his explicit rhymes seriously even though in real life the guy is alright.

I think we need people like Shang to balance out all the seriousness with some dick-and-fart jokes.

We need the Ying AND the Shang. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Do you know how long some people have been waiting for the so-called "good players", and "veterans" to post something valuable?

Just forget it, it will never happen.

There have been countless examples in the past of people who were in a position to share information and educate others, but simply didn't. Whether they had no time, were lazy, or just selfish, it doesn't matter. The simple fact is that it never happened, and everyone has to stop waiting for, and expecting, it to happen.

What will happen is that every now and then great people come along, like noodalls, Srider, Ogi, maddy, nin, our friends at hk-vf.net, etc, who find themselves in a position to contribute some translated VF information. And in an act of selflessness, they decide to share this information with the rest of us.

Like it or not, that's all we have. As dysfunctional as this family is, we don't need one person constantly shitting on everyone whenever he feels like it. We don't need one person alienating new players just because he perceives them to be wrong, or the advice they're trying to share isn't sound. The 1% of useful info Shang may decide to share is unfortunately outweighed by the 99% of his nonsense. The decision is a no brainer.

New players and beginners alike need to be allowed to make mistakes. More importantly, they need to feel comfortable in an environment that allows them to make mistakes and learn from them. Otherwise, we just drive new players away and we'll turn into grumpy old men who whine like bitches when there's nobody to come and play with us.

All the so called vets have probably forgotten what it's like to learn something new, or ask a stupid question, or come up with a strat, technique or "combo" which they once thought was the shit, but later found out that it was far from it. And it was probably thanks to someone who knew better, who was kind and/or patient enough to help them improve.

Now if you're thinking that I'm trying to encourage an easy going, spoon fed environment where everyone is nice and kind to each other, and answers any question without hesitation, then you couldn't be more wrong. In fact, I've always encouraged the complete opposite. I want people challenge themselves, and others, in a non-confronting way, to help better their ideas, skill and knowledge in VF. You can point out that someone is wrong without being a dick about it.

Anyway, I want to take this opportunity to thank and applaud all you guys who are currently helping out on the Wiki.

    <span style='font-size: 14pt'>In other news...</span>

I posted this comment on Shang's blog as a response to his recent post where he doctored a photo I posted for the OHN VF5 results:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Shang, I don't mind that so much of what I say and do, both online and offline, seems to be a subject of much personal interest with you, bordering on an obsession.

But what you did with that photo is not cool and I don't appreciate it one bit. I want you to know that I'm taking this personally.

You don't know those people and they're not deserving of your shit. Laugh, ridicule, mock me all you want, but leave people you have no business with out of it.</div></div>
Once again, it just goes to show what kind of person he is, his total lack of respect and complete disregard for others.

The following is not so much a counter to what Myke said as it is a message of good news...

Fortunately, it is happening. Unsafe_Dan, for instance, he's not a vet, yet he's so fired up about VF5 that he's researching and churning out information in a constant stream. The guy doesn't even own VF5. Think about what will happen when he does. Genuine VF Vet in the making. It's happening right now.

A similar thing happened in VF4 with Blonde_One and IMF. They were new guys that really got into the game and then shared what they found. They were pummeled with derision (mainly because of their attitudes). Then, one day, they played known VFers and kicked-ass. The world changed. VFDC is an interesting place.

New, interested players become the real vets. Real meaning, say, not bitter. Not that all the old-timers are bitter - the ones that used to share may not be as interested in devoting time as the magic is gone for them. Some are just assholes that never intended to share. Some are just assholes that have nothing to share.

Here's a common discussion on IRC...

<Shangster>: Plague, no one in Boston plays VF anymore. They won't come play with me.
<Plague>: Maybe if you stopped calling them cuntyNoobFagCockyCockSuckers every time they visit you, you'd see them more often.
    <Shangster>: SsTFU plARGYYE!

The worst part of this is I do not trust anything he says to me. Advice, whatever. It could be genuine and I have no clue. The safe bet is to ignore it. Sad.

I haven't forgotten what it's like to learn something new... happens all the time here. In fact I intentionally ask questions or post ideas I'm not 100% positive about to generate discussion. I've found it's one of the best ways to get the so called vets and experts to come out and play in the forums. The more specific your question, the more likely you'll get a lucid response. None of this "I can't beat Akira with Jeffry" crap... post what you do when you fight Akira and ask for advice on what to change. Find out where you make the mistakes. It's healthy to be critiqued. At least constuctively... not like Shang has in the past. (to keep this on topic)

I like Shang in person. I'd even call him a friend, but I tended to gloss over his posts here, especially after he starts cursing people out.

Sebo I don't think the vets quit, I think they just have stuff to do other than post on a message board. Believe it or not but you and me have A LOT of time on are hands to be posting so much on a forum. Normal people don't have that time. I get the time because I have a bunch of college classes behind a computer.

Just because players don't post much information anymore doesn't mean they stopped playing. Phoenixdth, Akiralove, and a whole slew of people who don't post on VFDC still play VF here in socal. I'm willing to bank that even the old old OLD guys that look like they've retired probably still do play the game, they don't need to post about it. I've got my money that guys like Blonde One and IMF are still playing VF.

Overtime people get tired and take a break. New players come in, old players go out for a while. I don't think anybody really quits VF, they just get tired of burnt out from it.

I gotta say this: I was wrong.
Having Shang back on VFDC would totally mess up this community.

As soon as some newjack (translation:noob) would post with some crappy advice Shang would probably chime in with:
"WTF? You fucking noob, you dont know what the fuck you're talking about, why dont you stfu and die?"
And thus, this friendly site would become gamefaqs or just every other crappy fighting game site where people get slammed for not being experts at the game before posting.

I posted on the only Shang post that I agreed with, his post on godeater. The guy had just messed with me on the shout box and I ignored him but then I saw Shang's post and I posted a Shang style rant about the guy. I have nothing against VFDC or Myke but I do have a problem with that portentous gobbledygooker.

My change of opinion isn't coming from any of the aforementioned though.
I went to Shang's page today and saw something very, very disheartening. Shang was tearing up the advice that some vfdc members had posted. It's on his "VF5 mega launcher post" and when I read this, it made me sad and dissapointed that someone with so much skill could be so bitter and self-righteous now.
One of the guys that he trashed was UnsafeDan and even though I haven't met this guy in person, from what he's posted he's the kind of VFer that even though he doesn't own the game, he still tries to help out and, wether Shang believes it or not, U.D. IS helping.

Plenty of newjacks stay away from VF because of the high learning curve, now imagine if when they actually decided to give it a shot and came on VFDC they got flamed for asking a dumb question or posting some wack strat.

Shang, I know you read this and I know that I'm prob going to get flamed on your thread for having a different opinion than you but, dude, you were a noob once too, remember? Just because you could take or took harsh criticism when you first started this game that doesn't mean that everyone else is going to be able to do so. I think that you're a good player and you're cool in person but I know that your internet persona is probably not going to back down from how you feel we should address these "noobs" when they post but I dont THINK this, I KNOW this: the VF community will NOT grow if we all acted like you do over the internet. Shang you might have too much pride to admit that you were wrong but it takes more balls to admit when you're wrong than to stand by your mistake.

Fellow VFers, as we all know, VFDC is not VF itself, just a really good place for VFers to gather and enjoy a nice e-atmosphere. If I get banned I'm going to still play VF and continue to love the game and try to meet other players and get new ones to enjoy the most awesome fighting game ever. My dream is to meet and play most of you at some point.
    Peace out.

    Plague, great points.

What I meant by "it will never happen" is that we need to stop hoping for information to be simply handed given to us on a silver platter.

We need to take control of what's available to us, and make the most of it. And that is exactly what Unsafe_Dan is doing, and I applaud him for it.

Is that for Akira? Cause I'm pretty sure 2 jabs works just fine.

Edit: To get it to work with 3 jabs, you need to hold forward. I think it still works if you hold forward and go for 2 jabs.

Well yeah I posted in the mega launchers thread /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif when I made it. Can someone test to see if two jabs works just like three?
