licensing

Does anyone know the rules and regulations of what properties that aren't yours u can use in a youtube clip? For example, say i wanted to pull footage of someone dancing, or a fish swimming, or high school football hit; how would i do that? Where can i find it to pull? If i tape something from discover channel onto my computer, a 4 second gopher attack, can i youtube it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All i wanted to do was quote some poetry, and maybe show a lion attack a gazelle between Vf5 clips, is that so wrong? Screw it i guess.

You could always record your own footage of a Gazelle.

 

4 hours later and I tried...man, that gazelle fucked me up. They don't look that tough when lions tackle them...
