Wow many thanks to you, I didn't know such an awesome game in its full form could be d/l for free off the internet, I am now playing Gunbound whenever I have some spare time... it's that addictive!

Basically, it's like Worms, or Artillery for the Apple II where you and up to 7 other players control tanks to blow up each other or the other team. This is done by taking turns and when it's your turn you control the angle and velocity(like in many video game golfing titles) of your shots, and you can outfit your tank with different powerups.

The coolest thing however has got to be the permament record tracking, ranking structure and money you earn to buy new equipment ala vf4!

    This game owns us all.

I'm having a really good time with this. I want to see if anyone else is willing to give it a try. If anyone hasn't seen it before it's like that ancient game tankwars. It's a 2D turn-based game. You and your enemy are randomly placed on a wide map with varied terrain. You adjust your tank's cannon to an exact degree and decide how much power to put into your shot, then cut loose. You have to account for wind, the angle of slopes, the weight of your shot (there are several tanks and each has 3 levels of attack), and the peculiarities of your weapon. If it sounds a little simplistic, it is... but in a good way. It's a game of aim and judgment. The different tanks and shots add variety and the various maps are suited to different characters - One character shoots bombs that roll along the floor until they contact an enemy tank or blow up after a short time limit, so it excels when the enemy is in a pit. Another tank causes large explosions on the ground and can drill vertical holes into which your opponent can get trapped (and sometimes die). At least one tank WANTS to be in a hole because its strength is its ability to fire through dirt without difficulty. Another has very light but strong shots that are easily carried by the wind, and it's good for making high arcing shots (which gives money and damage bonuses and looks pretty spiffy).

    To download, go here.
    ftp://web1.joyon.feelamint.com/gunbound/gunbound_gis_252.exe
It should auto-update as needed, but if it fails get this:
    ftp://211.234.113.248/download/gunbound_gis_fetch_254.exe

Don't let my description fool you, the game's simple but the download's 100 megs anyway. Lots of eye candy.

You gotta go to the front page and register, but it's a simple very short form, no email confirm required. Once registered it keeps track of all your play stats and awards. Better yet you can win gold every match and use that gold to buy items to improve your mobile. You might think "so if I'm new I'm going to get raped by ppl with better equipment". Not so... equipment takes a while to save up for and doesn't give you gamebreaking improvements, so the game is still one of skill. Also some servers are noob zones, and players above a certain rank cannot enter them. I've been playing for a while and no matter how badly I play, I almost always see someone worse... usually on my team.

Give this a shot, even if you don't usually go downloading every little game people post on this board. It's addictive, fun, and seems to have a nice learning curve. You can be kicking ass within a week, and get your first decent item after your 4th or 5th session. However there are also items that you'd have to purchase by saving cash for over a month of regular play. It'll take a while to learn all of the mobiles (if you decide not to just stick with one) and even if you do that, there are two random-select mobiles you can only get 1/30 games or so.

    Hope everyone gets into this.
