I think people dont use that because its pretty easy to EDTEG after the first 2 hits. If you use /versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif, or /versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/k.gif theres no thought of evading.

Just wanted to share something I read in Arcadia.

As you know, /versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif is guaranteed, and the way to guard the followup /versus/images/commands/p.gif is to hold the stick toward your opponent during the 1st hit (which turns you around) and press /versus/images/commands/g.gif to guard the 2nd. However, if Lion anticipates that you're going to do this, he can go for a more damaging /versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/k.gif + combo.

However, Arcadia tells of a technique which allows you to both guard the 2nd hit of the /versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif and avoid the /versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/k.gif. What you do is escape in the direction of your stomach (front side) and then press /versus/images/commands/g.gif. You'll either guard the second /versus/images/commands/p.gif or safely escape the /versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/b.gif/versus/images/commands/k.gif, and this works in VF4 and Evo.

Now you can successfully defend against Lion's two best options after the exchange and force a guessing game.

I tried out that method that myke posted. If theyre really strong they can also throw escape if u do /versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif, throw. This throw really sucks now. Thanks for ruining it myke /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

That's why they gave Lion the alternative /versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/df.gif/versus/images/commands/p.gif+/versus/images/commands/g.gif throw. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

I coulda sworn testing df,df+G (see this post) found that it avoided both bb+K or df+P,P?

I meant to comment on this earlier.

I didn't know about this method to avoid both options, so is it:

    1. df,df+G, or
    2. df,df,G (i.e. neutral+G)

If it's no.1, then I don't see how you can be in a crouch+guard state and successfully protect against a mid attack (i.e. df+PP). Also, being in a crouch and guard state while BT'd = potential back stagger.

If it's no.2, then I don't know what effect df,df has while you're in a Back Turned state. That is, you can't crouch dash away from your opponent, only towards them, and the motion described looks like a crouch dash away.

After thinking about it, I guess db,db,G may work in that you'll turn around to guard the second P or crouch dash under the b,b+K. Looking at the frames, Lion is +12 after the throw, and his b,b+K takes 15 frames to execute. So I guess that means you have 3 frames to crouch dash backwards (assuming it's even possible).

The reason I didn't bother testing this is because after reading about the escape to front side method, the above seems kinda redundant, not to mention risky.
