All fine and dandy, doesn´t change the fact that you calling muslims who believe music is impermissible crackpots is nothing short of extremism itself.

Like I said the popular oppinion in all four legal schools is that it´s prohibited.

*edit* before someone calls me out, yes I listen to music myself. I follow the other oppinion. But I will defend other muslims from slander.

No slander, they are a bit crazy from the moment they want to impose THEIR believes on those who think differently.

And exactly what are you doing when you call those with stricter views than you crackpots?

I hope this is just you and not what your teachers have taught you on how to deal with ikhtilaf.

Are you still on about the Taliban? I´m not even talking about them. Islam doesn´t revolve around them.

The oppinion that music is impermissible is one that has been around since the beginning of Islam, it´s something the companions of the Prophet talked about. It has nothing to do with the Taliban.

Is funny, me and Fulan had a similar discussion about the changes of Islam during he's stay in New York. Nation of Islam and the 5percenters(The Gods and Earth's)are the few to take words and beliefs of Islam, and but their own spin to it.

What Fulan is beefing, and debating, is the fact that "HE" follows Islam to the purest, the way it supposed to be, and always will be. Only because others put their own spin to Islam doesn't change the fact what the Qur'an state's.

If your clearly Muslim, your wouldn't be doing Music to begin with(Instruments)

Yup, just don't connect your PS3 to the Internet, or you'll get the patch.
He's not debating your faith in anything, is that your view in Islam is consider wrong by many. Some people consider the teachings of the Nation Of Islam to be "Islam" when is NOT. I respect any teachings that help that individual soul. Just like I was raised around the 5percenters and the teachings. But, do I consider it to be Islam? No. Did you get your teachings from a NOI temple?

Great replies, Fulan /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif I appreciate the lessons on your faith.
When it comes to people's cultures/religions/family and other things that people hold dear to them, it can get ugly when an "outsider" has something not-so-nice to say about something that they are not a part of.
For example, I can say "Christians love [X] and they hate [X] and it's more acceptable than if I say "Muslims love [X] but they hate [X]" That's why you saying
doesn't bother me but if you were to say that about Christians then I would object and tell you about what I know to be different... if it is different. Sadly, it is true that Christians are a lot more lax nowadays than they ever were but it's not that they don't care, it's that they don't want to come across as "religious nuts".
When somebody talks bad about VF or your favorite football team and you start defending them, passionately, that's o.k. You might get called a fanboy or a diehard fan but you won't get called a sociopath /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif Plus, our teachings are to be humble and treat those that attack us with love and... a bunch of other stuff that is very, very, very hard to do. Nobody can do this infallibly. Part of the reason why I never followed this religion growing up in NY.
Turning the other cheek in the Bronx back in the days would only get you an asswhoopin XD
If you believe that than you should believe in nothing. I believe in Islam because it is the truth, and two contradictory statements can not both be true. </div></div>
Come on, you know I don't mean my opinion on the subject. It should be obvious by now that I have chosen, prefer and believe in my own religion. What I mean is: all religions should be treated with the same respect.
There shouldn't be special treatment for one and something else for the other.
If you can put Jesus in South Park and Family Guy then you should be able to put every other religion up there too.

To answer your question, yes, I watch those shows but do I have to agree 100% with the show's writers? Do I have to like all of the jokes? No. I've heard Chris Rock say some things that I think are stupid but he's still my favorite comedian because most of his material is hilarious.
South Park is bleh, it has it's moments but Family Guy has got some great one liners.
It's not impossible to be able to laugh at something and still take it seriously. Including yourself /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I've been reading this thread for the last few days here and I really fear entering this arena (especially if you read Tony's last quote above, how could you interpret it like that Fulan?).

    Fulan:
Who would even realize that music is not accepted? When I read this thread my first thought was: "Really? They're even touchy about something like this?" Only people that are actually Muslims (and from what I'm reading the law in question isn't even that wide spread) would know about something like this. And now there's talk of a recall. How is this not a small group of people exerting their law over the rest? Which is what Fishie meant when he said:
    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">
No slander, they are a bit crazy from the moment they want to impose THEIR beliefs on those who think differently.
    </div></div>
It's not about following stricter laws, it's about applying those laws to other people. Expecting the entire world to march to your step, that's 'a bit crazy'. I'd say it's more than a bit crazy.

From what I've read though, it was caught and reported to Sony and Sony took action in turn. It was handled in a mature and succinct manner. It's not like they're burning sackboy effygies in the streets or anything. So even if I do think it's a pretty wacky law (really, music? I still don't get it, what's the problem?) there hasn't been any real upheaval. Only among gamers who now will have to wait a few weeks more... Which includes me, but I'm a patient man. I just wish Sony didn't have such a huge hard-on for lbp.

    Spoon:
As for your 10 million $ question. Well, offending Christians isn't as easy as putting music to the Bible. If we're talking about burning crosses in the background or something, yes this game'd be recalled. Sony's made this one a little too big to f it up now.

    So true so true.

Lack of tangible context which to include body language.

With that said, religion is so sensitive to everyone, isn't it.

I don't like that kind of praise, I was only defending those who strictly avoid music to the extent taht they can from namecalling and slander. If there was someone else to say it i would keep my mouth shut cause I don't feel good talking like this but really be a mediocre muslim. BUt yea sometimes I feel something should be said.

This is why I chose what I chose. People who don't really understand what Christians are really about always think that they're just full of it because the bible says "this" but they do "that" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
My faith talks openly about sinning. It says "we are all sinners". All of us sin everyday. The moment that you have impure thoughts: sin, the moment that this or that: sin, sin.
So guess what? There's no way to adhere 100% to the scriptures 100% of the time.
The only person who was able to do this was Jesus.
That's who good Christians "try" to be like. Not 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. The pope sins. All of these people who Jews, Muslims and Christians look up to, sin. All of them. There isn't a human that does not sin. Even if he is on his deathbed not bothering anybody, just praying to his God, in one of those prayers, he will probably sin.
People say "if you're not going to do it 100% why even bother?" hahaha! Are you the best at VF? Are you trying to better your game? Improve everyday? Same thing, you can't get in this and "master it". I dare any person to try it for a year and then tell me that it's doable. There are sins we do that we're not even aware of.
People that call it "lipservice" or "hypocritical" or "they just don't care" are full of crap themselves if they think that they can try to do this and do it consistently infallible all day, everyday.
It's bogus. You can get on your high horse and tell me about how much more "religious" you are than me and since I don't know that much about Muslim faith I wouldn't know if you getting on a high horse and judging me is a sin in itself or not.
But as a Christian I can tell you that once you start judging, you have sinned already so your high horse isn't as high anymore.

I sin ALL of the time. I've done it here in a freaking video game site, lol, but I'm not proud of it, it's part of who I am and have been before I got into this. I don't have to justify myself to you or anybody but I'm proud to say that I am changing. Before Christianity I wouldn't hesitate to resolve things with violence if I had to. It's no excuse but I've had a messed up life and even though I was calm most of the time, I had my days when anger would take over. Now thanks to Christianity, I've changed for the better.
I'm not Jesus and I know I will never be but I'm going to keep trying to live the way He lived because as a Christian I know that His is the best way.
That doesn't mean I'm there yet but I'm trying to not physically harm the guy who steps on my shoe and then when I look at him he says "what?!" with an attitude. I'm not there yet, but I'm trying to be and one day I will be.
But I will still be a sinner, just like everybody else, just less than what I used to be.

The point is to try. The everyone sins talk is never an excuse for anyone. </div></div>

I wonder why you didn't quote the next two sentences after that. Well, here's the rest of that particular quote:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">There's no way to adhere 100% to the scriptures 100% of the time. The only person who was able to do this was Jesus.
That's who good Christians "try" to be like</div></div>

I'm starting to think you just want to argue. I mean, you wrote the same thing I said but in different words.

It's kinda hard to NOT think that you're judging when you make statements like "this is never an excuse for anyone".
It reminds me of all the thousands of Christians that have turned off other people to Christianity with that same talk.
If you're talking to me: I'm already trying, thanks. Maybe not "hard" enough in your eyes but I'm happy with my journey.
If you're talking to all those other people who, whether Muslim or Christian, have their "imperfections" and all kinds of other sinful characteristics, well, I fall under that category too, so it really doesn't matter... yeah, I'm gonna leave this argument after this. It makes no sense for me to tell you to get the dust out of your eyes before you start pointing out dirt.

You don't have to say that you are a "perfect" Muslim or anything like that to give off that impression. I mean, what's the point of pointing out others imperfections and then saying "I'm not perfect" /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif
    Seriously.
Whatever, this is just going to go back and forth because you don't seem to see anything wrong with anything you've written.
I know I've written some stupid crap. I know I'm not always right. But for you to start talking about "lipservice" and "Christians not caring" then when I reply with "hey, everybody sins, but good people "try" not to" you come back with:
"The point is to try. The everyone sins talk is never an excuse for anyone."

Well... we are done here, sir. Here's your big chance to come back with some stinging retort that will make everybody see just how right you are about everything and just how wrong I am. I promise you that it will go uncontested.
Have a pleasant Sunday and God bless.
