1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Looking for VF players in or around San Francisco, CA

A year ago, we had a good group of old-school hardcore VFers (dating back to VF1 or VF2) here in the SF Bay Area meeting up to play regularly, but since then:
<ul type="square">[*]our star Japanese player has moved to Phoenix, AZ
[*]our star Taiwanese player has gone back to Taipei
[*]another great Japanese player has stopped playing in favor of golf and bowling
[*]another great Korean player has moved to Tokyo
[*]another good Singapore player is too busy at work[/list]
Long story short -- I'm itching to play VF4evo against more players who are interested in playing regularly (at least once a week, if not more). Right now, we have Nengli (Shun/Sarah), Renzokuken (Akira/Lion), sixtyten (Jeffry/Goh/Pai), and myself (Kage/Lau/Goh), but I'm wondering if there are other people visiting this forum who might be interested in joining us?

I live in San Franciso in the Marina district, and have 2 VF4 Hori sticks, tables & chairs, and a decent-sized TV to approximate the arcade setup, so you don't have to bring anything to play. Also, if you are newer to VF but are interested in playing regularly, I have a nice stash of VF4evo movie clips (not as comprehensive as CreeD's, though), sorted by character, and can burn you a CD-R so you can watch and learn from high-level players in Japan, Korea, etc.

If interested, please send me a private message via this board. Thanks! /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hey everyone, does anyone in the Bay area still play VF? Unfortunately I didn't bring a PS2 or any joysticks, so I'm a complete zero, but would love to join an existing community...if there is one?

I brought my vf4 stick with me and a
japanese ps2 memory card with all items for
    all characters.
No ps2,copy of Evo or tv.

I am always down to play if you or somebody else has the rest.

Ok I have a tv+ps2+evo+ 2 hori real arcade pro sticks (one is the american tekken 5 stick, but I think it's relatively identical?)

I'm down in San Jose, are any of you around here or all in SF?

P.S. I'm a total scrub but eager to learn, so are most of my friends who might be able to play too (see my post in the character and technique forum)

They may look the same on the outside but they are TOTALLY DIFFERENT on the inside. Hori RAP's sticks and buttons are authentic Japanese arcade parts and can be modded/replaced with ease. The American T5 stick and buttons are inferior mock-ups and soldered onto the board.

I have a American T5 stick and I use it quite often but I'm seriously looking into getting a Hori RAP. The stick and buttons are getting less responsive nowadays and I don't feel its worth buying parts to replace them.

That sucks... I guess I should've known better than to trust an American stick... I hoped Hori would have higher standards, but oh well... I guess its at least passable until it gets crappy on me... :/

I am near Palo Alto and I can meet up with your crew some time. My schedule is mad busy though so I can probably meet up only during the weekend. Why don't we set up a Saturday? Let me know what works for your crew.

I'm a decent player but am rusty.

Don't get me wrong. The American T5 stick is a good stick its just that the Hori RAP is better. I'll admit I thought it would've been the same quality before I purchased it because they look the same. The U.S. T5 stick is only available with the game bundle which costs $100. I'd puts the stick's price at around $50. I don't think the general public would care what parts are inside. Besides, I think majorly Tekken players prefer using a PS2 pad.

The Hori RAP usually sells for $90 (Hori was at Evo last August for the first day and had a special deal. $60 RAPs. I failed to get one /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

How does next Saturday (the 21st) sound?

I'm right by a few different caltrain stations, so no problems picking anyone up from there...

    Hey all,

I'm going to be hosting a VF night Sunday, Feb. 5th, at around 5:00-8:00 PM. I'm in San Mateo, pretty close to the Milbrae BART station if you are coming from the city or the east bay, and we have some people (raoul, for example) coming up from San Jose if you need a ride from that direction.

We have 2 ps2s, 2 copies of EVO, and 2 tvs, but only 3 sticks at the moment so hopefully someone can bring a 4th. If a lot of people are interested there is room and equipment for another station, but we'd need 2 more sticks.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll pm you the address.
