Los Angeles - The Future of VF

Alright new gatherings thread since Arcade Infinity wont upgrade to VERSION B !!

To start things off console meet today at Joons place at around 7-8pm. Joon says he has trouble registering on this board so if anyone needs more info , you can call me at 909-234-8326.

So far we got Spotlite, Andy, Brian w/ an I, me, Sean, hat Brian, and maybe Joey going.

Hope to see you all there, practice - get better - defend home turf for EC5.

Has EC5 date been decided yet? I hear it's somewhere around the end of July/early August.

Anyway, I'm planning on going back to SD in mid July and staying until the end of July most likely (2 or 3 weeks).

 

GREAT meet last night. I feel like Im somewhat improving my game mentally, breaking new grounds to start the next level of play. Thanks to Wess for hosting even though we never get to pay for food o(_ _ o) . . .

We ran a mini tournament again (Joon finally didnt win back his own joystick.) results are
1st. Andy - Shun
2nd Spotlite - Akira
3rd. Joey - Kage

Joon has a really fun Goh to watch.
Wess has awesome Leifei combo setups I really really need to learn.
Bryan powerful as always.
Brian w/ I is now the "Shiny Wiz" due to the frequent amount of shining wizards performed that night.
Andy is now dubbed Drunk Andy - an oxymoron in its own right =P.
Brian "The Hat" - got potential if he can learn more from Andy and practice more frequently.
Sean "The Greatest" will one day rule with his fag lion costume.
Joey was trying some new TFT combos last night, I think he was trying to go for Knee hit hit Knee combos, still "Crazy Joey" as always.
Willie "Blonde_two" - just keep practicing.
I got dubbed "Cheap"bita from Joon due to my frequent abuse of low moves that night

Hope we doing this again sometime soon, Gotta defend home turf for EC5. Speaking of EC5 - vf4akira, toms will be out of the country for 3 months including this month so hes coming back near the end of June to early July, hopefully itll work in your favor. If not im sure we can have some games going /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

 

Great write up. Makes us wish we were there last night (not that we didn't want to be there already).

Instead of a night of VF and the requisite waking up at 1pm the next day, we have a painted fireplace and half a wall of drywall. Construction continues!

Hopefully next time we can join you all out there, wherever the next get together will be.

Ive been talking with banes on IRC, from what i got from him - He's a jeffry player from the torrance - long beach area. Anyone holding meets anytime soon? Or are we all holding out till E3.

Just to make it publicly known, our group (me, sean, brian, willy) hold small meets about every friday. If anyone wants to randomly hop on in just call me or message me. Recently we've been heading out every other week to the LA area too play joon and/or wess. So if anyone else is holding meets in the LA area DONT HOLD OUT!! I want to be constantly challenged.

Ive also been talking to mike, and i want to make the trip out to San Diego sometime soon to return the favor. If anyone else wants to tag along for a ride, Just notify me as always.

Some closing comments, i still need to pick up faselei from talis, i think i had serious memory loss that night /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif Im game every week either friday or saturday untill finals week. Call me if you want to play. and. . . . . . . . .

E3 meet, we need confirmation if its going to be at spotlites house. If not, i think either me or someone from my group can host it. I just want some earlier notice if it ends up being one of us to set things up.(hence the sense of emergency)

Very serious, indeed. Faselei still sits upon the television.

By the way, that was a cool get together last Friday and I think we should do that again. I'll talk to Catherine and see what works best for us (Friday night? Saturday night?). I'm not holding out till E3. I think that would be silly.

 

Ok, last Friday we had Brisal73, Blonde_2, Sean, PhoenixDth, Hat, Joon, Catherine and I at our house. I could go for at least a repeat of that, but let's make it Saturday night (April 26th) and see if we can't get more of the regulars (Andy, Joey, Mike90210, Wesleyzm, Spotlite - who probably has to work), and some new people (banes, Afroconnexion) involved.

Catherine and I are willing to drive if it's not at our house and we're also willing to host.

Our house is a little more crowded than usual due to bizarre furniture arrangement, but I think we can manage. If necessary, we'll put the small couch into the concrete room. Also, if we get a crowd that big, we could use four set-ups. I've got three TVs (one of them needs PhoenixDth's RF modulator). I know Phoenix also has a TV to bring (the famous Texas Television - "so... what"). When in doubt, bring your PS2s, sticks, Evo discs, and cards or a lot of people end up watching instead of playing.

PM if you need directions. Oh, and post your intentions to attend - it circumvents the "so, who's all gonna show up PMs and phone calls and what not."

well Banes, Plague lives on the close side of riverside, so if thats too far of a drive for you, you can stop by my house and i can drive you the rest of the way.

Im good for this Saturday, I need a break from midterms and getting no practice this week. If we do have enough people, I will bring the Texas Tv, not the Tekken Tag Tournament "ill steal your" TV, ( cough bastards!! cough )

I think Afroconnexion is still in norcal till school is out.

Possibly just myself. Maybe 1 or 2 more. Bringing a tv and rig just in case. Got directions from Plague and plan to arrive 7:30...?
