So in every other fighter blocking low other than to block a low attack will get you launched or punished hard. But in VF, I see a lot of the better players blocking low a lot. Basically I have been conditioned to rarely block low, so can someone give me tips about when to do the infamous 2p I hear so much about and instances where low blocking is more essential in VF?

Low blocking is more essential? I don't think so.
Most of the lows in this games are unsafe event if they it and freaking unsafe when blocked and if they do a knock down you have to star over your offence. The 2P is a special low that can be blocked standing so no need to worry about it.
There are some cases where you want to try blocking low (wake up, nitaku, instead of a fuzzy to block antifuzzy tactics, etc), but when apply that is up to you as player reading your opponent's pattern.
Depending from the character you have you might want to try to jump over a low to have a bigger reward (9P+K of wolf, brad, goh are some examples).

Alright thanks man. It might just be because I use Taka and he has about 1 decent mid, so ducking might just be more of a priority against him.

Lol 1 decent mid? 4P+KP is about the best mid launcher in the game.

Yea, you just started playing this a few days ago, or a week ago right? Don't worry man, the more you use/get familiar with your character of choice, the more you'll figure out how, when and what moves of theirs become useful to use at certain times. And notice some stuff works pretty good that you didn't think did so before.

But 'Mister' summed up the whole low blocking thing pretty good. It's a lot about guessing when your opponent will want to try and catch you with a low. It's not something you want to do too much. But if you have a good feeling on what your oppenent may want to try like a sweep to knock you down and/or beat your evades, go for it. Doing a fuzzy guard would be a good option if think you they might throw you. And you'll be able to block the mid if they don't.
