Magazine Subscriptions.

With the loss of EGM alot of us are very curious where we should go to get our video game magazine fix.

My suggestion is PLAY magazine. It used to be formerly known as Gamefan from back in the day. They are very SEGA friendly and talk proper about SEGA games and give them respectable reviews or opinions with there new bullet system instead of ratings. The layout is very clean and easy on the eye. They also have a spot for japanese games (although last month it was mysteriously missing),anime, media, and PC.

Out of the 2 magazines its the one I like best. The other one I have is Game Informer, but I hate it to death, It always puts games with guns or new Rock and Roll music game on the cover. For me it worries too much about the mainstream and whats hot and cool now. I think the last fighting game cover was that mk armeggedon and that was a major dung heap. Honestly it feels like it sells out to the public and the only reason I have it is when I went to Game Stop they pushed the sell on me + plus some vain hope of change that they might promote Japanese games on there cover.

Best of luck to the EGM and 1 up crew! Hopefully PLAY will hire a few of there editors and people that helped them work on the magazine.

 

Games tm is the only one I read.

 

Play gives way too much credit to shitty games in their reviews... It looks nice,has length and is glossy though

 

Games tm is an awesome British Magazine I have picked them up before. I like Retro section and the family tree of a game page. Don't see them that often but check them out when I do.

Ugg please expound on the crappy games that they give credit for and the company that makes them.

 

I've been part of the PLAY Magazine forums since day one......trust me, Those reviewers have issues. They use to be something, but now, they're bipolar. I personally got to meet and hang with the staff numerous times, but ever since Shidoshi join PLAY, things started getting strange(Nothing to do with Shidoshi, he's a cool hipster)I say get EDGE magazine.

 

Dude they said that baja game was "amazing, and is the gran turismo of off road games".... this is very far from the truth.

 

Oh yeah, you think that was bad, try SONIC 2K6, Golden Axe Beast Riders, Advent Rising and so on. Pure was a better ATV then that mess, but you already knew that.

 

Pure was a great game, but plays review swayed my opinion at the time to rent Baja.
I loved that rally racing game "Dirt" so I thought it might be similar, boy was I ever wrong. I just returned it and traded it in for pure.

 

I'm actually enjoying Goldedn Axe. It has only a few problems like the camera is questionable at times, and a lack of weapon variety. They did a cover for it so of course its good. Let me remind you I said good not great. Out of 10 I would give it an 8. I'm stuck in the game right know so I actually have to use my mind to figure out how I proceed, thats a good thing that I like to see in my games.

I love to support SEGA granted I don't buy everything but I do buy quite a bit. Rent Golden Axe and then give an opinion. Don't let reviewers sway your opinion, most of them have a lot of hate when it comes to SEGA games Except with the exception of our beloved VF games.

P.S. Am I getting a general consensus that PLAY plays favor to just SEGA or are there other companies that they are playing favors to.
