Unfortunately, the "President" and his daddy's friends have made up their minds about Iraq many months -- possibly years -- ago. Making calls is good, but if you want to be effective, make calls to your Representative and Senator, especially if they are members of the so-called "opposition" party. And, of course, participate in any protests are happening in your town.

 

Unfortunately the Mr. Bush is smarter than most people realize regardless of how he appears in public. Even if he isn't the people around him are which is regrettable for them and us in the next 2 years. Bush needs get another hit of a 8 ball if you ask me fucking punk. Talk about drugs being bad when he himself uses drugs what a hypocrite, SOS. /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

 

No amount of bitching, protesting, or being active is going to keep us from going to war. Let's just hope it's another 72 hour conflict like the past few. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

Uhm...our current president & commander in chief had occasion in his "youth" to partake of a certain powdery white psycho/motor stimulant which, oddly enough, his father as head of the CIA helped import into this country.

This would be the same father, if you remember, who served in other very high policy making levels of our government as our (no new) tax dollars supplied Mujahadeen rebels, Saddam Hussein, Noriega and this is just some of the stuff you can get from a source as esoteric as World News Tonight.

Of course, United States servicemen & women had to eventually be placed in harm's way to dig some mass graves in Panama, shell the moonscape of Afghanistan & kill tens of thousands in Mesopotamia.

Should anyone be surprised that an attempt was made on the man's life after he and his administration green lit the invasion of Kuwait then rode the tide of international outrage into the region and kept a substantial military presence there to ensure "stability"--a euphamism for inexpensive gasoline?

Should anyone be surprised that his son, shielding himself behind the preposterous & unprecedented notion of "preemptive war", is willing to risk more American lives in the service of killing tens of thousands more Iraqis so that he can avenge good ol' dad and maintain, for that much longer, our "stabilizing" taxpayer funded military in the region?

You know what's messed up about all this? Our "democratically elected" "president" has a DWI conviction and a history of cocaine abuse & my making a quip about it proceeds somehow from my being insane.

Seriously, I'm nowhere near as left wing as the above indicates. I love America. This place rocks! But goddamnit if it isn't fucked up that every year I give the government $4000 so that it can kill a bunch of people or do shit that's so screwy that dudes who are more or less like me and don't mind being dragged to strip joints every once in awhile are willing to sacrifice their lives to kill some of my countrymen and knock down some inarguably bitchin buildings.
