Good screenshots here, as well as a review:
    http://cube.ign.com/articles/458/458922p1.html

I've been anticipating this sequel for a while now. I loved the SNES and N64 versions, but IGN seems to think this one isn't a huge leap (gameplay-wise) over the previous versions. I'm still looking forward to playing this next week when it comes out.

    Comments?

Yeah, that's a no brainer right there, can't go wrong with Mario Kart. Man did they take too long to come out with that game !

most game reviewers from magazines and internet sites always review based on innovation and graphical leaps. Which is why they always rate certain games lower or higher than it should be based on different opinions. What they don't understand is the mario kart formula has and always will be one of the best kart/action racing games ever. No clone will come close. I have played all the clones and they are not as fun as mario kart. The thing that is annoying these days with magazines is how little they write or review about a games muliplayer aspects. All they do is write a sentence or two about if you gather four friends, it is a blast. blah blah. No shit. hahahhaa.

i have been playing it for a whole week

    n trust me

it is more fun than the stupid review on ign.

If anything, Zelda really did not innvoate itself...after all , what is really new in Zelda? still using the same grapping hook..still using the same boomerang etc etc etc.

the fact that the reviewer claims the game is slow is really scary...becos all u have to do is try n race the staff ghost ...then u will come to this realization

    'shit, I am slow!'

It's like racing..the driver is the slow one..not the car itself.

One of the most disturbing line in the entire review goes along like this

" power up is unbalance, the higher u place..the shitter the items u get...'''

Isn't this the MK style though since day one?

Plus..if banana peels are really that shit, how come we still try our best to avoid the hell outta them?

It feels like VF4 all over again

KUMITE IS SO DEEP! THIS GAME IS SO DEEP!

yet they never explained why or how.

If you remember, people were saying similar things when Mario Kart 64 came out- that it was too easy, placed too much emphasis on items and was often unfair.

Next Gen magazine gave it 3 stars out of five. The same magazine gave Body Harvest 4 stars! That game was not bad, but it wasn't even in the same league as MK64. They had a problem with MK64 because the courses and power sliding were more accessible.

They wanted the racing harder. Fair enough, but that is not what the game went for and so it's not what it should be judged for. What it tried to do was make it a game that was easy to pick up but kept people playing by making advanced techniques useful, but hard to master. Turbo boosting on the tighter turns was difficult, but satisfying and helpful. Lining up your kart on the road by looking at you friend's screen and shooting a green turtle shell backwards to smite him was difficult but oh so fun.

The items will of course lead to an occasionally unfair outcome, but that gives the game a little parity. This is a nice thing sometimes. Give less skilled players a reason to keep playing. If you put in a billion hours perfecting your skills and memorizing all the tracks and you expect to win every match to validate your greatness, well maybe play Fzero. Good luck getting three other people to play with you.

That said, I hope that they didn't simplify it too much and that its depth will reveal itself in the long run. I play Wario. He is evil and wants to do unnatural, sinful things to Princess Toadstool.

Hell yeah /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif! Already got mine prepurchased, and was close to buying the broad-band adapter from Nintendo.com before I thought maybe I should wait or something...

I usually import my cube games, but for this one I thought I should get the US just in case I will find people willing to play LAN here in the area or warpipe.

I was sad when I saw there was no jumping with R in this one, but it's not that bad since you can still powerslide, and it seemed a little harder too from the small demo I played. Wario is the man! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got my MK:DD this morning and it's a lot of fun, particularly in co-op. I had a quick bash of the co-op mode with my wife earlier, and we had many arguments about who was to drive. Much fun.

Summah no disrespect but yah I ALWAYS disliked the cheating computer in Mariokart, yeah you get shitty items if youre doing well and suddenly when youre first the opponents develop superpowers, its there to mask the bad balance but ends up highlighting it.

Its a fun game yes but seriously how much more can they cram down oure throats.

I agree on most of the other then the clone thing, I believe Crash Team Racing is Alot of fun, up there with Maro Kart for SNES!

Its the same game, but for PSX... Since ive never owned a 64, i odnt know the joys of MK:64. and would probably end up complaining about shitty controls anyways. All 64 games have this problem IMHO

The cpu is insane at times, but I've never been bothered by that due to the fun multiplayer mode. Cheesy power-ups make the game fun. It's all about knocking your friends out!! /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I got it today. Can't put my finger on it but something's missing from this game. The single player game is tedious. The two riders per cart thing is annoying because of the bloated roster of insignificant characters, and dosn't really do anything save tweak performance and allow different configurations of power-ups.

Also, it's got unlockable carts.......er, why? Must every sodding game these days spoon feed the player with useless junk to collect?

We're planning to play it 3-player tomorrow night, so hopefully the multi-player is decent. Meanwhile back to topspin /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Why not have unlockable carts? from what I read, this time carts have different stats rather than characters, so I don't think they are all that bad. Besides there aren't many of them to be unlocked anyways (^_^; ).

I dunno, I just feel the Mario Kart series used to exemplify great characters and simple racing fun. With this game, the pre-racing options dillute the individual personalities of the racers and the rivalries that develop mid-race.

No longer are you Yoshi with his fast acceleration and amazing cornering......you're the Yoshi & Baby DK combo with the the fast but shit cornering red car.

Yeah that's why I was thinking of buying the broadband adapter. I might wait a little and see what they do for Mario Kart though. There is another software which is used for Xbox as well, I think they are releasing one for cube /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

It's a fun game, but I better find myself some people who play.

    Just bought it today....

    Nice graphics, good sound, etc....

So far, I'm loving the new power-ups. I also like the idea of your teammate actually tossing the shells out at the enemy. My favorite things are the new and improved "road hazards" (tornados, quicksand, etc) and interesting locations for those speed boost strips. I can't wait to get online with this. It's party time, bitches!!!! /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif
