MATCH FINDER on VFDC

After awesome Myke's NEW Command list section, i think it will be very useful for increasing VF community activity to make a NEW Match finder section on this site!
This idea came from russian Fighting.ru

Preparation:
Step 1: Add a Player note in your profile (by YOURSELF):
1. Select your Game (VF5FS or VF2 or VF5 online or DOA5U, or others)
2. Select your Platform (XBOX360 or PS3)
3. Add your Skype ID
4. Add Comment/Characters


Step 2: Edit other existing Player notes in your profile (about other game) (by YOURSELF):
the same 1-4.

Step 3: Add Gamer tag (PSN, XBL) - if not added in your profile (by YOURSELF).
(For the first time for quickly making Player base - Moderators/Admin can to make existing Players info on Community PSN and XBL threads).
Your setup is complete.


Then, when you want to find the most convenient opponent for you:
Step 4: Go into Match finder section on VFDC, and Just set your filter search settings


...to find your appreciated opponent (with their info) - with SORTING feature on every column:



Of course, forum names / PSN/XBL IDs are clickable and opening player's Personal page on this site/ His PSN/XBL card - for easy contacting and searching his profile.

Pros:
1) No need to wait moderator to upgrade your Player info (its AUTO upgradable)
2) Moderator become free from often editing 1st post (players list)
3) Comment/Character column (is also AUTO upgradable) - the player by himself can whenever he want to upgrade this info (character, skill, and any info).

Cons:
1) Only registered on VFDC members are listed in this Matchfinder (impossible to post your friend/mam/grandpa Player card).

 

Yeah that would be something! sort of the silly thing i tried for in my program though heavily manual and non-database so not as great as an actual ditto on this site would be.

Should have filters by location and console system, regarding on if people have filled it out. Oh and the actual handles/usernames on said consoles to go with.
Perhaps it could also be an "opt-out" feature if someone for whatever reason does not want to be found. though i guess by that reason the would just not need to fill out the profile details.

Grand suggestion though.

We've got something like that going in Finland just in googledocs format. Players of popular games fill out their handles and where they are and so on so they can locate each other for games or get new handles.

A real player database on site would be pretty cool. I'm pretty sure that for anything but America just having country and handles would be a pretty good start. For america add state.

I'd guess the trickier part is having it implemented in a way that does not allow for bogus information or changing other peoples info. I guess if you could just check a box to allow the use of your info on the database and then it automatically grabbing the needed info from your profile would be an ok solution. You could still troll it with fake profiles but at least it would require some waste of time if someone wanted to sabotage it. Way beyond my current ability but just tossing the idea here.

Matchfinder on VFDC - will make a huge increasing in online activity for the VF games i am sure.

 

Yeah i figured as much! Was pondering on looking in a way of "scraping" that information myself, but lazied out looking into improving my "net-dev" skills in that area (i.e finding out what would be possible to pull for the Input tool) But it makes more sense having it on this page than in some hobo external application anyways.
